The Devious Means needs help to finish their 2nd EP! The funding for this project will go towards mixing, mastering, and reproduction.
Formed in 2010 by mutual friends and family, The Devious Means began to write and perform songs that invite foot-tapping, hand-clapping, and are often difficult to get out of your head. TDM find influence from bands like The Arcade Fire, The Dead Weather, and the Yeah Yeah Yeah's as they craft their own unique sound. Now, The Devious Means are about to release their second EP to the masses—six songs, all originals, produced by Dallas Kruse at Zion Studios in Santa Ana, California. Sonically, the second EP is expansive and thematically explores broader dimensions of thought and feeling within the human condition. Each of the 6 songs covers genres within the indie rock spectrum that the band cheerfully pays tribute to. Whether it's the electronic vibe of artists like MGMT, the pervasive joy found in the likes Mates of State, or the epic breakdowns from bands like Muse, you can hear how each song has been lovingly crafted. Much more attention has been paid to naturalistic room tones, different synthesizer and organ tones, and a liberal dosage of hand claps and group shouts in order to create an album that better represents the bands energetic and participatory live performances.
This EP is the labor and energy of 5 friends who care about making quality music. In the past year, things only point towards positive growth and movement for the band such as successfully releasing the first EP to a crowd of over 400 people in March 2011, breaking attendance records at The House of Blues in June 2011, and being a part of the community in meaningful ways, such as sponsoring an AYSO girls soccer team and playing numerous benefit shows for non-profit organizations.
If I back the project at the $500 level, but live outside of the Southern California area, will you still be able to follow through on a house show for me and my friends?
Unfortunately, travel expenses would have to be included for the band in order for us to fulfill the obligation for an out of state performance.
