Dear Ayn Rand Documentary Supporters and Friends,
I just wanted to touch base with you and give you a long-overdue update on the status of our documentary film project, Inside the Mind of Ayn Rand (“IMAR”).
The documentary continues on temporary hold status while I work on the “Atlas Shrugged” movie series. I was co-screenwriter and consultant on Atlas Shrugged, Part Two (released in Oct, 2012) and I am the primary screenwriter and consultant of Atlas Shrugged, Part Three (projected for release in 2014).
I’m happy to report that a lot of time is being invested into the Part Three script and the producers have voiced their commitment to staying focused on the important themes of the novel. The Part One and Part Two films, already released, have inspired thousands of people to read Rand’s books and learn more about her ideas—exactly the same goal we have for our documentary.
Once principal filming on Part 3 wraps up, we will resume full time work on the documentary. In the meantime, there have been some great new developments with the documentary that I’d like to share with you. Over the past year and a half, I’ve had many discussions about how to introduce Rand's ideas to new audiences and not just preach to the choir. We’ve arrived at new insights that not only apply to the Atlas Shrugged films but to our documentary as well. In recent months we have revamped the overall concept of Inside the Mind of Ayn Rand moving it away from a PBS style scholarly review of Rand’s philosophy (that might only be watched by Rand fans) to something that is much more provocative.
Rand’s ideas are enormously threatening to proponents of big government. She gives her critics nightmares, from the President of the United States, to the New York Times, to countless left-wing bloggers hiding behind their screen names. They say she’s hateful and pitiless…the leader of a cult… a menace to society… In fact, some of her enemies, have called Ayn Rand “The Most Dangerous Woman in America”. We decided to take that charge as a badge of honor. Our documentary disarms her critics by tackling their arguments head-on, using them as a platform to refute their assertions one by one. This technique peels away the misrepresentation to reveal the surprisingly uncomplicated essentials of her philosophy. I’m pleased to announce that we have renamed our documentary…
The Most Dangerous Woman in America.
We think this new approach will draw a broad general audience -- even some who think they hate Ayn Rand! Please go to the link below to see our new promotional trailer: http://tinyurl.com/dangerouswoman
On behalf of our producing partner, The Moving Picture Institute, co-Producer Dathan Liblik, Associate Producers, Tiffany Pransky and Matt Wood, and Marketing Director Scott DeSapio, I thank you for your continued patience and support.
All the best,
P.S. Because it is a completed funding project, the Kickstarter site will continue to show Inside the Mind of Ayn Rand as the title.
