Update #6 · Oct 24, 2012 · 1 comment

Dear All,

It has taken months, blood, sweat, and of course, bruises (luckily tears were not involved), but we are finished. There are a few final touches such as sending out your rewards and general clean up, but on the whole, the project is done, and we thank you for your continued support! A big thank you goes out to all who have helped work on the project, to name a few, Troy, Dan, Nate, Ryan, Joe, Brian, Keri, Eric, Bea, Farm Corp interns, Bernard, and many more!

Check out the photos below.

Masonry: The True Beginning

Update #5 · Jul 29, 2012 · comment

Last weekend marked the beginning of our arduous journey into the land of masonry. Although slow going, the base course is almost completely laid for the two rectangles.

The photos below were taken last weekend. We haven't had a great deal of progress since then, due to the much anticipated rain, but we will start back up once the skies have cleared.

A big thank you goes out to some of our new helpers Nate and Dan!

Stones!

Update #4 · Jul 13, 2012 · 2 comments

Well, we are up to our ears in stone.

In the past couple of weeks we have begun the preliminary work necessary to lay a stonewall. The process entails creating a drain system for which the wall to lay on top off. We have dug a 6" trench, laid the gravel, and received an incredibly large delivery of roughly 20 tons of goshen stone!

If everything goes as planned, we will start to lay the first course of our stone wall this weekend!

Ryan and I immensely enjoyed our stone wall building class last Saturday and learned a fair bit of information on how to create a patio and a structurally sound retaining wall.

You can view our progress below. The first set of pictures were taken at the class and the second set shows our headway at the farm. As you can see some of the pieces of stone are quite large!

Design Changes

Update #3 · Jun 19, 2012 · comment

Hello everyone!

Due to some unforeseen dilemmas we have had to change our design a bit, but we are even more excited by the aesthetics of this design! We feel this design unites the structure with landscape more so than the former. We will be finalizing our material list by the end of this week and starting on the delivery process.

As Troy has the most comprehensive stone background, just Ryan and Amanda will be attending a stonewall building workshop on July 7th. We hope to start excavating and laying gravel by the first week in July-- if not sooner. Please continue to check this website for updates and photos.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please email Amanda at abhill725@gmail.com
