What does "dance funk" mean to you?

To me it means a simultaneously upbeat and laid back groove that's right in the pocket and makes you want to move your feet. It means accessible and fun lyrics, catchy hooks, and a not-too-poppy approach to the music. It also means recorded by real musicians.

APTITUDE - Jump into the project!

I am making an all-fun dance funk album, and I want you (yes, you!) to be part of it. I'm a full-time musician and have been chipping at it for years. I released my debut, full-length studio album last summer after saving for years. I payed for the whole thing myself and (let's not beat around the bush) emptied out my life savings to do it. This time around I just...don't have that much money, but I wanted to get it started so people could see what it is I'm trying to do. It's an album just about having fun. I have avoided all the serious topics and I'm singing about music, dancing, and good-looking women. Dig it?

The Basics

All the money I raise will go towards studio costs, paying musicians, mixing, mastering, artwork, post-production, album release and distribution fees, duplication costs, and reward fulfillment. That is all the budget includes. If I end up over-budget (fingers crossed) I will put the extra money towards a music video and will let my backers vote on which song it will be for!

The Teaser

What's so great about jumping on board with a project that's already underway? Why, the teasers of course! I've already gotten some of the recording and mixing done, so you get a sneak peak of the project! This is not the final, but take a listen to what we did with my song "Aptitude" in the studio.

In Closing

If I am elected class president, I will make sure everyone gets a hall pass. I've got 7 more awesomely awesome songs to record and we can make this dream come true! Let's get together and make the funk party album of the year, Kickstarter.
