Update #8: Exciting News!
Update #7: We Did It!!!
Update #6: Matching TODAY
Update #5: Some Cool Press + A Match!
Hey Backers,
First, we have someone who has offered to match any donations made tomorrow - August 10th. (I should mention that tomorrow is my birthday!) So if there is anyone you think might give to the campaign, tomorrow is the day to hit them up.
Last week was a crazy week! (Crazy in a good way that is.)
1) We did our final interview with David Jay. (A screenshot from the interview is below!)
2) We cracked $5,000!
3) We had a fundraiser at Butterfield 8 that yielded about $500. Not bad when a bulk of it was in tips!
4) We got two great write ups about our Kickstarter campaign.
One writeup was from indieWIRE, an independent film blog, that featured our project in their "In The Works" column. Having our film featured on indieWIRE has been a little dream of mine. It's a little cheesy but I've been reading that website forever and having a film featured on it makes our film feel like a REAL film.

The other write up was from Feministing. It included some footage that many of you might not have seen yet. It is from the Pride parade last year.

We are now featured on the homepage of Kickstarter! This is incredibly cool and incredibly humbling because of the quality of the projects on this site.
Thanks so much for everything you all have done.
Love,
Angela
Update #4: Tip Generously!
Hey friends,
We are having a fundraiser for the film this Monday, August 2nd. The Arts Engine crew will be guest bartending at Butterfield 8 with tips going towards the Kickstarter campaign. We will have a special guest: DAVID JAY (one of our main subjects in the film) so come and hang out. There will be a raffle and drink specials. Not to be missed!
Here is the information:
Butterfield 8
5 East 38th Street
(Between 5th Ave & Madison Ave)
Date: Monday, August 2, 2010
Time: 6-10pm
Here is the link to the Facebook invite:

Earlier that day, we will be doing our final interview with David. I can't believe after three years, this is our last interview. It is bittersweet.
Some backers have asked how they can help get the word out in a more concrete way. Of course it is helpful to use your various social networks (Twitter, Facebook, email, etc). Another suggestions is, if you have a blog, write a blog entry saying why you became or backer or why this film is important. Or, if you have a friend who has a popular blog, you can ask them to blog about the campaign as well. Many of our backers are individuals who read about the film somewhere and wanted to help out.
We have over three thousand now but we still have a ways to go. Most people raise a bulk of their money in the last few weeks so we're on track. Still we have to keep spreading the word.
I am leaving you with a sneak preview of a song from David's Mix CD. It's "Give The People What They Want" by The O'Jays. I was pleasantly surprised by this pick on his part. It's a good one.
Have a great weekend everyone and I hope to see some of you on Monday night.
All the best,
Angela

Remember to spread the word about the campaign to your friends and various social networks.
Enjoy the heat!
All the best,

Hi! I am a filmmaker and writer based in New York. I have worked for the past eight years as a Director/Producer at Arts Engine Inc. There I've produced some great films, most recently Pushing The Elephant. I have directed some short pieces. This film is my feature doc debut.
