What is Chocolatines?

An upscale chocolate boutique that is known for our artistic dessert creations made with no artificial colors, ingredients or preservatives.

In 2004, Wada started Chocolatines, a luxury chocolate shop, from her home. The Japanese-born entrepreneur wanted to fulfill her mission of bringing joy to people through her culinary creations, and was able to achieve success through the online sale of her unique chocolates. Chocolatines appeared in the 2011 Holiday Gift Guide of People Magazine, the Academy Awards, Emmys,  Grammys and Golden Globes and is a celeb favorite for actresses such as Heidi Klum, Demi Moore, Katie Holmes and Kathy Griffin.

We were deeply affected by the tsunami in Japan last year and participated in many relief effort events throughout Chicago and even traveled back to Japan to learn what more we could do to help. On our latest visit, we connected with the executives of Japan’s most prestigious department store, Mitsukoshi. They fell in love with our creations and have requested us to create a special edition of our popular Chocouture Jewelry Box to sell in their department store for Valentine’s Day 2013.

This will be no easy feat, as all of our chocolates are hand-crafted and hand-painted individually. It takes a great deal of skill and patience to master the art of creating the truffles contained in this box. We have to make 10,000 boxes in time for Valentine's Day 2013. This is our biggest challenge we've faced within seven years in business.

How will we make it happen?

We need additional labor to make this amazing feat happen. My daughter, Hidemi, works as our Creative Director, and we have a few apprentices, but we will definitely need additional skilled help to generate the 10,000 boxes requested by the department store. We would like to hire three individuals to help by July 2012 to help create, package and store the Chocouture Jewelry Boxes until they are ready to be shipped to Japan.

We've set our goal to $15,000 as even that will make a sizeable difference to us. However, we are hoping to raise at least $30,000 through Kickstarter and more through other means. Please feel free to get in touch with us if you are interested in speaking to us about larger funding options.
