Darb TV is a children's television show about insects. Darb TV is a subversive satire about incest. Grounded in feminist critique and delivered with magical puppets, Darb TV highlights the insidious nature of how sexual violence functions in our society and in our families. Darb TV was originally conceived and produced as a stage play in 2010. The original production of Darb TV was received amongst critical acclaim. Your contribution will fund the adaptation of Darb TV into an original feature-length movie. Your contribution will support a new set, a film crew, productions costs, and distribution. We will not be able to make this movie without your support.  As a movie, Darb TV and Darb TV's message will be able to reach a broader audience. Not only do people avoid talking about sexual abuse, but people avoid talking about the ways that sexual abuse is complicated. If ever our main stream media has a conversation about childhood sexual abuse it is a very simple and one dimensional conversation. Using magical animations and colorful puppets, Darb TV uses the facade of a children's television show to open up a very uncomfortable topic, making it more accessible.  If we are ever going to prevent sexual abuse we need a conversation that goes beyond “abuse is wrong”. We need to ask ourselves the more difficult and complicated questions of what in our society and what in ourselves produces this form of sex and violence. This is the kind of dialogue that Darb TV creates and with your help the movie will be able to promote.
