A story about a quirky young guy, and how he came to believe that the dreams he has are actually a BLUEPRINT of his waking life.
" Dreams...all people get them. And life...where's the line between your dreams, and the real world. A strange coincidence, a strange gut feeling that says 'this is familiar...that is familiar...I've seen THIS before'. Most people ignore it, most people walk away...but I don't. " --- JACKSON (lead character of "The Specifics")
"The Specifics" is a story about a quirky young guy and how he came to believe that the dreams he has are indeed a BLUEPRINT of his waking life. It's a story of an ordinary everyday person believing in an extraordinary thing.
My name is Salvatore Sutera. I've worked for a number of years in the Film Industry in the production end of things. For some time now I've wanted to take the leap and direct a project of my own, a project that I could be proud of, and more importantly a story I could be proud of. I knew that if I were to ever decide to make the leap, it would be for a story that I had a passion for, something worthy of being called a "film". How this project came to be will to this day, be one of the more interesting events to have ever taken place in my life. Please take a minute to read. :)
One day, in between work projects, I found myself in my usual afternoon nap. :) As I was sleeping, I awoke to a phone call from a certain (347)...-.... number, one I never saw or recognized before so I ignored it. Minutes later I was awoken by a phone call again, and it was from the same number as before, exact same. I answered it thinking to myself that if this person was calling me twice, than maybe it was something important or an emergency. It turned out to be a producer who I've never worked with before, calling me in regards to a project she was producing. Once I saw it was related to business, I quickly apologized for not having answered her previous call. Confusion resided itself in the convo, as she explained how this was the first time she had called me. I ignored the confusing scenario and we quickly went on to have our discussion. It ended with me turning her offer down because at the time, I was holding out for a BIG project in which I was in the runnings for. After the phone call ended, I was curious. I went to the call history, and just like she had said, that was the first and only time she had called. All I said to myself after was "That's weird". A little over a month later, I had found out that I didn't get the job I was holding out for. After that I reflected on the incident that day, and started to think about the question of " what if ". What if I would've taken that job....and what if that job lead me toward some other job...path...place...or person? What if someone out there injected this dream in my head moments before the phone call actually happened? What if ? All this eventually led to the making of "The Specifics".
While doing the research for this project, I came to find that many people believe in many different things regarding the topic of DREAMS. This film is no way shape or form meant to take a stance of a certain belief. Rather, its meant to tell a simple story of a simple guy and how he came to believe in a complex idea. Whether he is right, or he is just plain old delusional is up to YOU.
With a small crew and limited budget, we were only able to complete 3/4 of this film. It's an ambitious short, with 20 pages in length and whopping 38 scenes total! This film is being made in conjunction with KVIBE PRODUCTIONS, a company that has had much success in the film festival world with its short films, and also with their work in music videos and commercials. The priority goal of this film is share this story with the film community at any film festivals willing to take it on. Much thanks to the talented producer, Khoa Le.
To complete this project in full, we need to shoot the remaining 1/4 of this film which contains a small amount of VFX. Along with the shoot, we need to cover the costs of post-production which entails the editing, color correcting, sound design, and music for the film. Thus we turn to the kickstarter community for help. Any donations, big or small, would be greatly appreciated :) . Thanks for taking the time out to read this and hope your able to support "The Specifics" !!!

With a limited budget and small crew, the scene count in this screenplay can be daunting. Thankfully we have experienced crew members that have been eager to push forward. We also have a creative team that is able to creatively "adjust" shots and simplify the process without hurting the integrity of the story.
