Art therapy will reach into the hearts of recently freed slaves from Bahari, India. Lets share their powerful voice with the world.
Benjamin Swatez and Diana Grove will leave for a small village near Varanasi, India, named Bahari, in the month of March. The entire village has just recently been freed from debt bondage slavery by NGO Free the Slaves and Lloyd Callahan. The people of Bahari have no electricity, nor running water, but they are FREE!
Benjamin and Diana will live for one month in this village learning, sharing, and holding workshops of visual art with the Indian people. Paints, brushes, and canvas will be carried into Bahari for the villagers to express their freedom through the visual arts. We will offer an opportunity for the people to give voice to their freedom, returning to the United States with an exhibition of their artwork. Benjamin will paint the artists' portraits, juxtaposing professional techniques with the expression of those painting for the very first time. These paintings will be on display for the entire world to see the genius within the eyes of the underrepresented.
