Update #5: WOAH. MoMA and Live.
In the last 24 hours our 'lil' project opened at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and was approved by Apple for release. At 4.45pm EST our baby was born.
From Idea to Inception in less than 45 days. THANK YOU ALL..........
Crowd Transparency is now officially live.
Update #4: Backers Only Exclusive. Video Beta and MoMA
Update #3: Baby Got Backed.
In the Architecture for Humanity offices we have something called the grant dance - if you pull in enough funding for a project to go live you do a shimmy, a wiggle or at least a head shake. Today, thanks to two new backers, I got to do mine - a shimmy/wiggle combo. We've hit our target with 27 days to go.
Anything above the total will go into UI development and any edits/corrections needed as we get reporting in from initial users of the App. Naturally this will happen with any new technology but we've been beta testing all week so most major kinks should be ironed out.
We've selected three initial projects to fund through the credit system mechanism. A youth center in the slums of Kenya, sustainable permanent housing for villagers affected by the 2010 Pakistan floods and a cultural center in New Orleans still struggling to return after Hurricane Katrina. (shown in order below)
We will submit the application to Apple next week and hopefully we will have it available for download in early to mid October.
Thank you so much for you're faith in this. We will show this app as a mechanism to bring transparency in reporting in development and humanitarian relief projects. For all the backers, I look forward to showing you a you tube of the beta iPad in action.
Cheers

Update #2: Exciting News - Beta to be unveiled at Google Conference.
Hello new backers!
What the what?!? We met with the team today and we are tweeking content and API. They sprung a little surprise on us - a working beta version that will be ready to show at the upcoming Google Zeitgeist conference. I think I'm getting my hands on the iPad late next week so I'll try and make a video of it working.
Big Mo Now we have momentum with more than 30 days to go, let's use the power of social media to invite other micro-investors to reach the $6K target. If you have a twitter or facebook account you can update your status to invite others. Something like;

Pakistan Floods and Open Architecture
Here is the sort of project that will be highlighted and tracked via the app. It is a permanent home built this week by the Heritage Foundation in Pakistan. Using bamboo as a structural element and costing $400, it is a viable alternative to the UN plastic tent. - http://openarchitecturenetwork.org/projects/green_karvanghar
Yesterday we did an online fundraiser - http://live4pakistan.tv - with Imogen Heap, Ze Frank and a host of others. Imagine if we had the ability to geo-tag all the donations to homes we will build. Tangible giving matters especially to those who no longer trust the aid world.
Thank you for your support in this crazy experiment.
Cheers

Update #1: 24 hours in and time to show off some mock-ups.
Just wow. This idea has been mulling around in my head all summer. Then i got an iPad and ping the brain turned on.
I truly believe that there is a better way to inspire those who want to give and empower those most in need. In a digital age we should no longer put donor names and logos on buildings, especially ones that are meant to be urban anchors in communities looking for resilience not dependence. This maybe one small step for the technology community but, in my 12 years of working in reconstruction, it a giant leap for the development and donor community. Thank you for being apart of this.
Here are some image mock ups including the virtual iPad view. Kudos to o2 creative solutions putting their creative touch where it is needed most and to Ghostly International for use of the song on the video.
I'm going to try and do an update once every week (Tuesday midday PST) to let you know how it is going and how the app is coming.
Cheers
Cameron
