Done! Home Sweet Home

Update #4 · Mar 28, 2012 · comment

It's been a long winter and as spring brings the flowers the "Adobe for Women project" opens its doors. The first of the 20 homes are complete and families are moving in. Thanks to you!

The homes are all built with indigenous and local materials. This ain't LEED platinum, it is LEED titanium - naturally!

Thank you to to all the backers for making this a reality and we want to thank the whole team for completing the project - not just building a strong home (surviving the recent earthquake) but a community.

The team in Oaxaca are ready to help another village. Are you game?

Cheers, Cameron

From Home To Business

Update #3 · Aug 24, 2011 · 1 comment

It's been a long summer in Mexico and the team on the ground went gang-busters and are at the roof line of the housing [they decided to do a dozen homes instead of just the one.] In the next few weeks we will have final images for the completed homes.

NOW THE AMAZING NEWS!

The womens' cooperative got their first clients and an order for 8000 adobe bricks. They are in business! This fall they will be replicating the housing for a number of other families in the region. You help in kickstarting this project has led to the development of a sustainable business enterprise.

Thank you to all of you who donated and we should be completed very shortly.

Cheers

Cameron

Words cannot express how excited the team is on the ground. given a picture says a thousand words - Here are 2000 words to express how ready the team is..

Naturally anything over $5K will go towards additional homes.

Thank you,

Cameron, Joao, Lara, Alix, Nathaniel and the entire www.adobeforwomen.pt team.

Adobe women not waiting. They build.

Update #1 · Mar 19, 2011 · comment

Hmm, how do you explain the kickstarter process to a collective of women who are re-imagining there community? Given the global focus on larger and more pressing issues it is fantastic that we are 40% there. BRAVO!

However - 1. we only have 6 days to go. 2. the women have started building!

We know a lot of people are focused on Japan and my organization has a large number of team members on the ground there BUT 20 women are in Mexico collaborating with natural builders and architects - to build the future they want to see.

So what do we need to do. We need 50 people to pledge $50. so let's tell ten friends. and ask them to contribute or tell friends, and we will make it.

or click the twitter/facebook links and let's see what happens.

Is this too much to ask? Let's see the real hard work and decide....
