“MILA” is Cinzia Angelini CG animated short that presents the most tragic collateral damage of War as its theme. Civilians. Though often overlooked and rarely mentioned by the media, civilians are the first to be hit, and the last to be remembered. Inspired by the true stories that both my mother and grandmother told me growing up, “Mila” is about a little girl caught in the middle of World War II.
An animated short is a great medium and opportunity to bring a message to the world that speaks to both children, and adults. It's also an artistic way of delivering a strong message not just to the masses, but decision makers as well, with great visual power. "Persepolis" and "The Waltz of Bashir" are examples of animated features that have successfully addressed strong, even controversial themes such as the Islamic revolution and the massacre of Palestinian refugees. A short, meanwhile, has the potential of reaching an audience at the fraction of the cost and time necessary to produce a feature.
I'd like to produce a high quality animated short and animation is not cheap! I seek the money for production, storyboards, designs, and art direction. The immediate goal is to produce a great story reel and use that as the foundation to move forward in search of additional investors.
