A series of three Photography Pocket Guides: "The Basics", "Be a Better Photographer", and "Business Tips and Tricks".
Hello everyone! My name is Adam Turner and I'm a professional photographer based out of Madison, WI. I began my career on the cusp of the digital revolution and I've witnessed a great resurgence of interest and participation in photography. More and more people have access to, and an interest in, the joys of photography.
I'm putting together these pocket guides so you can have clear, concise, and easily accessible information to reference. These are filled with basic knowledge you need to know and more advanced skills and techniques I've learned mostly through trial and error as my own career has progressed. My goal is to help you have a deeper understanding of photography and how to take photos like the pros.
Whether you are an amateur or thinking of starting a business these guides will help you take shots that are dramatically better and more professional looking. They will also help you transition your hobby into a business.
To create a series of three photography guide books to help all photographers take their skills to the next level.
Each book will be 3.5"x5.25", 20 pages long and is designed to be brought with you on your photography adventures. Keep these handy guides in your camera bag to reference in the field.
"The Basics" will be a guide designed to get you comfortable shooting in manual mode. It's, well, the basics. F-stop, shutterspeed, ISO, white balance etc... this guide is filled to the brim with everything you need to know to control your camera and be a better photographer. Full of beautiful illustrations and photographs.
"Be a Better Photographer" is full of tips and tricks I've learned during my decade long career as a professional photographer. Things I wish I would have been taught my first year in the business instead being learned by trial and error. This guide is the next in the series. Once you've mastered the basics your ready to learn how to "drag the flash", "find the light", shoot HDR, use mirror lock-up, how to shoot at night. Picture examples accompany each technique so you can see exactly how your photos will improve.
"Business Tips and Tricks" is a guide designed to help you put your camera to work. You've mastered the basics, and you've practiced the tips on how to be a better photographer so now your ready to sell your work. There are many ways to make money and I'll give you an honest review so you know what to expect in each situation.
