About this project

Hello friends, listeners, fans, and internet hooligans!

After almost 13 years and 10 full length recordings, Dufus is putting out our final album. Dufus has been hard at work recording and touring through Europe, the US and Asia and has performed with such acts as Animal Collective, the Yeahyeahyeahs, Of Montreal, Ween and the Akron/Family. We've also had such performers as Regina Spektor, Jeffrey Lewis, Adam Green and Kimya Dawson (Juno Soundtrack) in the band. That chapter is coming to a close with a 30 piece band show on September 25th in New York City.

This album's production includes Seth Faergolzia's voice and compositional wizardry, a horn section, two drummers, violin, a choir, bass, electric and acoustic guitars, toy piano, accordion, flute, and circuit bent noise instruments. It is our most grandiose and well plotted production. The content addresses a number of ideas including the importance of silence, long time friends, post-child breakups, love, schizophrenia, and profound dream stories.

As a final gift from the band to our fans all over the world, we have decided to complete this album and give it away as a free download or gift cd. It's mostly complete. It simply needs mixing, mastering and reproduction. That's where you come in... The more people who reserve a copy of this album, the better each copy will be. Perhaps we'll even be able to make vinyl.

To get a feel for the music, check out some of Dufus' earlier work and imagine the progression with this lavish instrumentation and 13 years experience in the studio and on stage.

The goal of this project is to put a copy of this album into your hands. The cool thing is that the more people who pledge money, the higher quality album we'll give you...

If we get 300 backers, the album will be really nice with handmade limited edition covers. If we get 600 backers we'll have the funds to not only to manufacture the covers but also to press vinyl copies of it.

Of course, more than 600 might mean a short farewell tour ;)

All those who pledge will also get behind the scenes access to information regarding the production of the album and the progress of the band leading into our final performance.

The album has many incredible tracks... rest assured, it will be a full length, full strength Dufus album, perhaps our best. The more pledges, the more tracks.... We'll be offering some of the out-takes as bonuses to those who pledge.

The money you pledge here on kickstarter will allow us to give this album its proper attention at a professional recording studio and to send copies all over the world.
