Congrats on making the goal. I'm for internal battery as well, but perhaps an option to have a port where a person can plug in an external battery from their backpack to get some more miles. This way you can let the market build/sell external battery packs and people have the option to use one to get longer range commute.

Gabriel,
What an amazing project. I love the design and thought that has gone into this project. The US has been behind other countries in terms of eco friendly commuting and this puts us a step in the right direction. I truly believe that with between the stat of our economy and new envoronmental awareness, people will be looking for new and creative ways to commute.
What a beautiful tribute to your mother.

Gabriel,
I love the project, internal battery is the way to go. Can I make a few requests/suggestions? Any chance of posting some more specs in an update? Length, height, weight (really interested in how much this weighs) and so on. Does it connect to an ac outlet? Can you post a pricing breakdown of the parts and pieces? That kind of goes to my next line of thougths, any chance you would make this opensource? Maybe not open but sell plans and kits so DIYers can put it together and tweek as much as they want? Any chance of maybe selling such a kit here on kickstarter at a price point between 175 and 1395? I would definitely pay for a kit like that (maybe cut the 1400 reward from the current limit of 100 to 50 and sell 50 kits at $500. Bam that equals 25000!). I am pretty confident those 50 kits would jump of the shelves. These are just friendly suggestions, I do like the project and hope it makes it, I'veemailed it to a bunch of websites (brooklynspoke.wordpress.com streetsblog.org and transalt.org to name a few) hopefully they will run with it.
