Japan 1560. The Ashikaga clan has not had the strength to control Japan in over a century. Battle and lawlessness sweep the countryside. Nobody knows if or when a clan will rise to claim the shogunate, the military and political seat of power. Will it be now? ....Will it be you?

Warring States is a two player strategy game that I've been working on and tweaking since 2007. Its primary design goal was to create a fast strategy game--playable in under 20 minutes--based on bluffing and reading your opponent.

The basic idea is simple: players take turns secretly sending units to strategically important Japanese cities. When both players have units at a location, a battle can occur, revealing the units. Normally, the side with the stronger forces will take the location. However, some units have effects, which can change the tide of battle all over the map. These include:
1) The Ninja, who can assassinate any unit
2) The Yamabushi, who can ambush your opponent
3) The General, who can move your units around
4) The Geisha, who negates the effects of your enemy's units.

The money from this project will go toward the cost of hiring an artist for the game. As epic as my skills as an artist are, the cards I've produced just aren't going to cut it. I've found a wonderful artist, and you can see lots of her artwork here.
