SKIN DANCE COMPANY presents 'ECCENTRICA' The 2011 Project

The ECCENTRICA project is three day series of performances and workshops based around the concept to engage the audience into a world of subconscious thought and energies through Dance. ECCENTRICA is expected to catapult this coming MAY 2011 at the AARON DAVIS HALL for two nights which will include a workshop prior to the show in contemporary and afro-Jazz fusion dance which will be free to sponsors, surrounding communities and public lenders.

These works choreographed by Thompson will reflect on the human emotional, physical, mental, political and karmic positions in its current environment. Creative expression and passion is what the start of this project is about! This project will allow the audience to feel as if they can connect directly to dance and theatre without breaking the bank for it. High quality performance should not only be accessible to the economically stable. We need our new generation of youth and mature audiences to be exposed to the arts on a more "down to earth" tone. Not all of our communities can afford the price of a broadway show. Henceforth our agenda:

This will be a production development performance based around the choreographic works of Tina Thompson. The invited artists and guests will play their prospective roles as future performers in our ultimate vision. "We want to take the show on tour! and be able to continue the project until it reaches vast audiences asking for more!"

ABOUT OUR COMPANY:

Led by Founder/Artistic Director Tina Thompson-Pope, SKIN- TTDC was established in 2003 as a vehicle for artistic value and self-expression through the language of dance. SKIN- TTDC seeks to provide the opportunities, challenges and infrastructures for personal growth to its artists, students, community members and future generations to come. As a diverse, four dimensional (physical, mental, emotional and spiritual) performing arts organization, We strive to create and perform choreography based on storytelling and universal themes in a contemporary-fused modern dance style that is accessible and relatable. Based in New York 'SKIN' -The Tina Thompson Dance Company Inc. (a 501(c)3 organization) thrives on being an innovative and creative dance force encompassing an array of talents and styles. SKIN strives to blend distinctive forms of dance with energetic personalities while propelling the art to new horizons. We aim to make dance accessible to everyone and that is why we call ourselves the Dance Company for all. Being fearless and uninhibited through the exploration of movement theory enables SKIN to reincarnate the 'soul' of motion. Through the intergration of many cultures, dance forms and backgrounds SKIN positions itself as one of the leaders in the new era of CONTEMPORARY FUSION. Through this our vision has clearly been established and announced. We explore the relationships between contemporary jazz and modern techniques to provide a conceptualized performance/study for our audience. TTDC performance venues include Tribeca Theatre, Symphony Space, Alvin Ailey Citi-Corp Theatre, International festivals and more.
