A Young Adult Fantasy Novel - A daughter of thieves must survive fire, bandits, soldiers, and fate.
EXAULTA is the first in a series of four Young Adult fantasy novels. Eric Ramer is the leader the Ravens, a clan of notorious thieves. He has protected his 17-year-old daughter, Elaina, from the world as well as his own business for her entire life. Our story begins with the destruction of the Ramer Estate and Elaina is thrown out into this unknown world, separated from anyone she has ever known. In order to get back to her father she must outrun soldiers, lie, befriend magical creatures, and fight off bandits. But when the Gods get involved, she learns that her fate is no longer her own.

First, if the campaign is a success, I'd like to give this book a chance at a book deal by submitting it to agents. While we wait for word on that, I will send out signed, printed manuscripts of EXAULTA for those who select the appropriate reward packages and set to work on publishing my novellas. If EXAULTA is not offered a book deal, I will immediately self publish. Either way the book will be published and those with the $1 reward or higher will be notified accordingly.
If the campaign breaks $7000,
I will make THE VENGEANCE OF VERONA, A Guardian Novella available to all patrons at a $10 reward level as a free ebook download.
If the campaign breaks $9000,
I will make SLIPPED, my first sci-fi novella, available to all patrons with a $10 reward as a free ebook download.
If the campaign breaks $12,000, I will have special *signed* limited edition prints made for EXAULTA that I will send out to all patrons at the $10 reward level.
High-end rollover points:
If the campaign breaks $15,000, I will write a second *signed* Guardian novella for all patrons subscribing at $25 or more, delivery date at my discretion.
If the campaign reaches between $20-25,000, I will make a The Vengeance of Verona book trailer to post online for all to see.
If the campaign reaches between $25-30,000, I will write a third *signed* novella for all patrons subscribing at $25 or more, delivery date at my discretion. It may be a Guardian novella, it may not be. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Yes! Please do! From what I've read, successful projects often get funded because of word of mouth. So the more you share, the better chance this campaign has. Blog away, tweet, facebook share, and make videos! I will be eternally grateful.
The idea for Exaulta didn't come at me the way my other ideas have. It grew. I originally wanted to write a medieval fantasy because I didn't like how another book of that genre had ended. I wanted to do it my way. So I wrote the first short story and called it 'A Knight To Remember'. I entered it into a few competitions and things. Then one day I was just casually reading it and I realized that I had completely ripped off the book that had inspired short story to begin with lol. Essentially I had written fan fiction and I didn't even know it. So I started over. I changed the character's name and started with a whole different scene. I had this great action scene with her on a horse racing through the woods, rain in her face, and a cloaked rider fast on her heels. That's about the time I think the first movie in the newest Star Wars trilogy came out. I was amazed at how George Lucas had created this massive universe with all of these characters and all of this history. I knew I had to do that. I had to develop Elaina's past before I could continue on with the story. That's when I came up with the idea of her being the daughter of thieves. I wrote the fall of the Ramer Estate and I liked it so much that it became the first chapter of the first book and the scene I described above became the first chapter of the second book. Then sticking with what I had learned from George Lucas I started developing the history of the Ramers, the Ravens, and even the History of their country, Alogoth. I learned from J.K. Rowling that I didn't need to tell you guys everything all at once, I merely had to let you know that there was more to the world than meets the eye. So it was just something that grew. Writing Exaulta was like uncovering lost hieroglyphs; with each stroke of my brush I learned more and more. All of my other book ideas have been different. They began with a question or suddenly BAM! an idea would explode in my head and I'd have to write it down right now. While I love my new ideas, I think that makes the Guardian Novels special.
