A Concrete Sky is a 350-page young adult memoir about how I coped with mental illness throughout my adolescence. The memoir is a collection of journal entries, letters, emails and songs that I wrote while unaware of my condition. They show the gradual development of Borderline Personality Disorder and Bipolar Depression, which I was later diagnosed with as a young adult. 

But this is more than just a nonfiction science book.

Take the "Love, Charlie" narrative style of Perks of Being a Wallflower, add science, and make it a true story. Stir in a little beatnik poetry, mash in music, sprinkle psychology. That's A Concrete Sky. It's awkward and relatable. It's funny and embarrassing and dramatic and entertaining all at once.

Writing music was an important outlet for me as a teenager, so I've compiled the songs I mention in the book, and those that mark significant points in my life, into an album called Chronology. I hope that hearing the songs in context of my story will be both special and interactive. 

I'm self-publishing this book, so I'm raising money to pay for an editor, record the album, create an album cover, and to build a website for the book.

Finding a qualified psychologist who correctly diagnosed me -- as well as attending therapy sessions twice a week -- has changed my life. I wrote my book to educate the public on Borderline Personality Disorder, among other mental illnesses like Depression. I'm hoping my book can encourage people to seek professional help, and know when they need it.

I believe my story will inspire people to embrace and understand those who suffer from mental illness. I know that my book will assure those who do have a mental illness or personality disorder that they are not alone.
