Update #14: the cd's are in the mail (tomorrow!)

Posted on November 25, 2010

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, EVERYONE!!!

Ah, so much to be thankful for! Here's a big one: the CDs are all in their respective envelopes awaiting to be delivered to the post office tomorrow!!!

That's right -- here they come! And to those of you awaiting the digital version, I'll be getting the info to you ASAP!

Thank you all so much for making this possible. Truly a dream come true! I've attached some grainy pix to whet your appetite -- they're just blurry enough that all details aren't revealed (totally unintentional -- just not a good camera phone!).

Again, thank you -- you are all so much a part of this CD.

from my heart,
Niffer

Update #13: sorry been so outta touch!

Posted on November 14, 2010

Just wanted to let you all know that the CD is at the printer/replicator place -- getting printed and replicated as I type!!

It's been a crazy and wonderful time since last I updated you! The final mixing took a bit -- and then came the mastering process! Imagine my surprise when I walked into the mastering studio (Alf! Mastering) and saw about 20 Grammy nominations on the walls -- and then found out that he (Alan Silverman) had mastered Barbara Cook's last 3 albums!!! Serendipity to be sure!

I don't know exactly what kind of magic happens during mastering -- but it happened!! And then the master disc and the artwork were off to the folks at Discmakers!

And here we are!

And NOW -- I am in the wild and wonderful throes of rehearsals for BELLS ARE RINGING at City Center -- starring Kelli O'Hara and Will Chase and a host of other fabulous people! Directed by the great Kathleen Marshall! With a glorious 31-piece orchestra conducted by the brilliant Rob Berman! I'm in heaven!!! Check it out at http://www.nycitycenter.org/tickets/productionNew.aspx... . It runs next week -- Nov. 18-21!! IN THE MIDDLE OF WHICH, MY CD SHOULD BE READY TO BE PICKED UP!!!!!! It's going to be a BIG WEEK!!!!

So, I shall officially set the RELEASE DATE (considering it takes a little time for the CD to become actually really really available online at places like CDBaby and iTunes and stuff) -- for DECEMBER 3RD!!!!

Which means you will be receiving yours in the mail right around Thanksgiving!! And those of you that pledged for a digital download of the CD or mp3's of the duets with Jeff Blumenkrantz and Malcolm Gets will receive an email with a link, or two, or three!

WOO-HOO!!!!

Update #12: everything is in the can, so to speak!

Posted on October 9, 2010

Hello all!

This past week, the final two remaining vocals were recorded! These were for the two duets that I'm planning to put on the CD. So now everything is in the final mixing stage of the game! Very cool!

Here are some pix and a video. To explain the process -- we recorded the rhythm section tracks at the original sessions, then added the horns and strings a week later, at a different studio - them's those crazy Levine brothers, makin faces but playing gorgeous music! Then added the vocals -- with my friend John D. Smitherman -- a week after that! Crazy!! But undoubtedly it will all come together magically -- and sound spectacular! And if you listen closely to the video, you'll probably be able to figure out what the two songs are!!

Update #10: a cd AND a concert! or two!

Posted on September 27, 2010

Hello my wonderful backers!!!

Well, I'm back home from a whirlwind week -- filled with total creative fulfillment!!! First was, of course, the recording sessions and mind-blowing editing/mixing session. (I'll post some more pix eventually.) We have the fixin's of a CD, my friends!!! One more recording session, some more mixing tweaks -- then on to the rest of the process!

But wait -- there was MORE!!! Then Richard and I were off to Canton, Ohio! A roadtrip spent laughing and listening to fabulous tunes -- nothing like Judy's Carnegie Hall CD to get you through Indiana and western Ohio!!! (We both grew up listening to it and had every note memorized -- as I'm sure many of you do, too!)

And behold -- the first two (of what will be many, I'm sure) of BEYOND THE INGENUE: JULIE ANDREWS, SHIRLEY JONES, BARBARA COOK AND ME -- the concert!!! At the Kathleen Howland Theatre at 2nd April Galerie in Canton. And let me just say that Brennis and Todd, the proprietors of said Galerie, are the best people on the planet!!!

The concerts were a blast!!! And it was sort of like "This Is Your Life" -- getting to see so many friends, parents of friends, etc. from elementary, junior and high school!!!! Thank you to my wonderful family and everyone who came! And, let me just say -- those CD pre-orders are totally taking off!!!

Keepin' ya posted!
