Photo-main

Choro Corpora, is an evening-length dance performance, consisting of four dancers, original costume design, sound design, and poetry.

The video shows selections from the work Into the Deep which was created in spring 2011, and is serving as the springboard for the full-length work Choro Corpora. The work began as an investigation of spine—our ancient vertebral backbone—undulation (fluid wave movement), and evolution. By fully exploring the movement possibilities of the spine, we connect to the physical possibilities passed down to us through a long line of evolutionary history. It is a tearing away of human culture, to reveal kinetic meaning and the memory of cell, bone, blood.

The music heard in the video was created on keyboard by Liz Erber, but will not be included in future performances. Since September we have been working with two professional composers, Julia Kny, http://www.juliakny.com/, from Berlin, and Peet Morrison, a cellist and composer from Australia/Copenhagen.

The costumes seen in the video were also organized by Liz. Since September 2011 however, we have been working with Italian costume designer, Arianna Fantin, who created numerous costume design prototypes for Choro Corpora. We have decided to go with her knitted models, which she will be creating for each of the four dancers.

We will present new selections of the work in Nov and Dec of 2011 in Berlin, which will serve as preparation for full-length performances of Choro Corpora in 2012. We plan to present the work in Berlin, other parts of Germany and Europe, and to bring selections to the USA.

We believe that Choro Corpora has wide audience appeal and are in need of funds to continue development of the piece. The funds we raise through Kickstarter will cover a portion of our costs, and will primarily be used to pay our hard working dancers and to cover the basic costs of costume materials. It will help us bring Choro Corpora to different parts of Europe, the US, and to you! Thank you in advanced for your help.
