I want to create a short film (15 minutes or so) that deals with my overdose in Feb. 2008-  what led up to it, my rationale, what I did to try to make it happen (and how angry I was that I failed).  90% of the time I'm the happy little mom, daughter, sister, employee, wife and tutor...  but there's that 10% that lingers in the background, in the dark.  When I come out of a "dark" period, I commemorate it by getting a tattoo.  Austin is full of amazing artists, but mine, Brad, is exceptional.  The film would inter splice my getting a 3/4 sleeve tattoo on my right arm with stories about what it's like to have a mental illness and other interviews from people who know me best.

I was a film major, and right now I feel ready to come out of the closet, letting others know about my illness.  Movies tend to make mental illness on the extreme side, but that's just not my experience.  Sure, there are down times, but there are plenty of up times, too.  I know that unconditional love, therapy, medication, exercise and getting tattoo'd have been what have gotten me through the past few years-  I was diagnosed in '00, have been hospitalized 4 times, but remain optimistic.  I want others to get to a place where suicide is not an option- that there is always someone out there who cares- even if it's just your tattoo artist!

I have the location secured, the talent secured, musical talent possibly secured, and am missing one thing:  funding...  I would like to have this project done by the middle of the summer, and enter it into festivals (Sundance being my number one pick).
