Back from Bali!

I got back from Bali exactly one week ago.
Thank you to everyone who made this trip possible!

It was a truly amazing experience, and I am deeply grateful to have a community of people who believe in me. I hope to be able to tell everyone about it personally.

Making music boxes

Hi everyone,

Right now I'm making music boxes for the holidays, and I thought you might enjoy this little video of the musical movements before they are put into their wooden boxes. They are the same boxes that you can get as a pledge reward.

Daniel Corral is a composer and multi-instrumentalist born and raised in Eagle River, AK. Currently residing in the L.A. area, his unique voice has found a diverse range of outlets. He has accompanied avante-garde puppetry all across the USA, had his music performed by an orchestra riding the Santa Monica Pier Ferris Wheel, been featured at a USC faculty concert of original player piano music, displayed his massive multi-movement music boxes at galleries all over Los Angeles, composed for a number of films and dance performances, and much more.

His award winning instrumental works have been premiered by ensembles such as the California EAR Unit, Aspen Academy Orchestra, and New Century Players. The LA Times called Daniel's player piano piece Eraser, "fascinating - true eye music."

In 2007 he collaborated with Tobba Jonsdottir to create Emperor, a short silent film about Emperor Joshua Norton I which Daniel wrote, produced, and composed the soundtrack for.Circo Oscuro, a musical puppet movie that Daniel wrote the soundtrack for, won "Best Fiction Film" in the 2006 Mission Center Video Festival.

In May 2007 he received his MFA from CalArts, where his teachers included James Tenney, Morton Subotnick, Anne LeBaron, Wadada Leo Smith, and Stephen "Lucky" Mosko. He recieved his BM from the University of Puget Sound in May 2004.
