Speaking on:
A Political Action Plan to End the Corporate Coup D’Etat
- Exposing and ending the three corrupting and highly coveted revenue/benefit streams (aside from campaign funds) between Congress and corporations that likely inhibit campaign finance reform. It would cost just $1.5 billion/yr to replace these benefits with tax dollars.
- How to incentivize Congress to enact campaign finance reform - employ the corporate strategy for political loyalty - financial incentivization and financial dependence. It would cost just $2 billion/yr to replace campaign funds with tax dollars.
- Combined, $3.5 billion per/yr would replace Congressional income and benefits derived from the corporations - at a cost of just 1/1000th our federal revenue - we’ll save trillions, our environment and democracy itself.
Greetings Fellow Americans,
You can be instrumental in the completion of a narrative-changing educational documentary that addresses and resolves the issue of our generation - the corporate takeover of America’s political system, tax code and revenue - by helping us to produce an interview with world renowned scholar Dr. Noam Chomsky speaking on a possible peaceful and expedient solution - Political Finance Reform.
After reading a ten-page summary of the book "Political Finance Reform" (which can be found posted free on our website), Dr. Chomsky graciously agreed to lend his voice and opinion to our cause with a taped interview for our educational documentary. The amount we need to do this professionally is about $2500 and only includes taping the interview. The entire documentary will cost tens of thousands, so any overage investments will be applied to the entire documentary. Please help us produce this potentially earth shattering interview and documentary. It could save lives, it will save democracy. The proposal Dr. Chomsky received is below for your viewing. Many thanks.
In solidarity, JP Sayles, Director PoliticalFinanceReform.org
Proposal Summary - “Political Finance Reform”
“Political Finance Reform” is a revolutionary solution to ending legalized political bribery, establishing Congressional loyalty to the 99%, and therefore a long-term solution to the underlying cause of our economic/environmental crisis. PFR has achieved 90% support in preliminary polling, see "Poll Results" in the main menu at PoliticalFinanceReform.org.
Political Finance Reform will show that by reallocating just 1.5 billion tax dollars per year, the 99% can win Congressional loyalty by employing the very same strategy that 1% employed to achieve political control: financial incentivization and financial dependence. Accomplishing Congressional loyalty is perhaps only way to stop destruction of our middle class and environment.
Never Before Discussed Perspective/Analysis
The Occupy Wall Street movement has caused several amendments to be proposed featuring “campaign finance reform”. Unfortunately they are all fatally flawed because eliminating corporate money would cost Congressional members millions of dollars in personal financial losses, specifically:
A) Corporate perks/war chests, multi-million dollar “add a zero to lifestyle” ie. Corporate Jets, extravagant junkets/vacations, million dollar expense accounts - gone
B) Corporate stock portfolios, multi-million dollar “add a zero to income” severely damaged - Most enter Congress less than millionaires, but exit millionaires (60 minutes, Nov. 2011). How? Most likely due to inside info/tax breaks/legislating to their stocks benefit - ruined
C) Corporate lobbyist employment, multi-million dollar “add a zero to retirement” eliminated - Job loss safety net, retirement income, most likely the carrot they all aspire to - gone (without financial control and incentives, lobbying would be reduced to just verbal persuasion against the best interest of politician, ergo far less effective and valuable)
Conclusion:
Why are these three equally valuable, equally corrupting financial connections between Congress and special interest groups not part of the campaign finance reform discussion?
Should we expect Congress to “bite the hand” that adds a zero to their lifestyle, personal income and retirement? Barring financial incentive that replaces with tax dollars the corporate “add a zero value”, should we realistically expect Congress to risk alienating their benefactors by dis-empowering them with campaign finance reform?
Possible Strategy for Change
Politically, there are two ways to effect change: mandate it or incentivize it. The 1% did not risk life and limb fighting each other (like OWS and Police) to mandate/demand control of Congress. They used the method of financial incentivization and dependence, which worked extraordinarily well, so why not copy them? How might the 99% duplicate and implement the corporate “proven-to-be-successful” strategy?
Strictly Business Solution – Cutting-Out the Corporate Middlemen
In addition to campaign finance reform, Political Finance Reform calls for the illegalization of the other three above referenced corporate “add a zero to income/benefit streams” simultaneously, however replaces with tax dollars the forfeited “add a zero” value. There are only 535 of them. We can afford it. We can’t afford not to. Congress is in business to make new law. They could accept this unique offer and make it law:
Even if we went so far as to “add a zero” to Congressional pay to replace stocks, perks and war chests, and “added a zero” to their pensions to replace lobbying/retirement income (in exchange for illegalizing receiving ALL benefits from corporations) it would only cost $1.5 billion/year, perhaps a fair trade and necessary compromise to end the vicious cycle of betrayal, pain and destruction. 56% of Congressional members are not yet millionaires. Government guaranteed “add a zero” could incentivize change.
The resulting loyalty shift could eliminate $400 billion/year in tax loopholes for the rich. A $400 billion profit on a $1.5 billion investment would provide a 26,667% return on investment and would likely be embraced by the 99%, were it presented correctly in an educational documentary.
Based on that, every day we wait could nearly pay the annual cost of this peaceful, proven successful “Congressional incentivization” plan to save our planet and democracy. So why wait another day? {Note: Like most and after losing everything myself, I would prefer to see Congress imprisoned. However, that is entirely impractical, and this compromise (if you consider these stunning benefits a compromise) appears necessary for change.}
Including $2 billion/year for campaign funds, the total cost would be $3.5 billion/year - or just 1/1000th our federal revenue of $3.55 trillion. If we can remove all corporate influence from politics and save our future for just 1/1000th our federal revenue, who would say no? If you were losing your $100,000 home, but could save it for $100, would you write the check? That’s 1/1000th. Isn’t America our home? Isn’t this planet our home? Reallocating just 1/1000th our federal revenue to save our planet and democracy would most likely be embraced by the 99%, were it presented correctly in an educational documentary.
By appealing to Congressional greed, this pragmatic, peaceful and possibly expedient solution provides a crisis conflict resolving win/win/win for the 99%, the police and Congress, with the 1% the odd men out! Any strategy that ostracizes the 1% from political power would most likely be embraced by the 99%.
With the stakes so extremely high, shouldn’t this “story” be told? To be told clearly we need to produce an educational documentary to counter the inevitable corporate pushback and change the narrative to utilizing the only proven successful method to win Congressional loyalty.
Conclusion
Peaceful crisis/conflict resolution nearly always includes compromise, and if we’re willing to go to war to preserve free market capitalism, perhaps we should be prepared to adapt to its unintended (most feared) consequences?
The 1% approached acquiring control of Congress from a “strictly business” perspective. Until the 99% stop demanding and somehow expecting “honor” from the least honorable institution in America, and change the narrative/way of thinking to a “strictly business” perspective - the slaughter will continue.
Let us all pray for the day when we can look back on “The Era of Legalized Political Bribery” as we do slavery, and wonder in amazement how we ever allowed it to exist in the first place.
