Hey, we’re Charly and Margaux!
We are a violinist and violist. When we first started working together we spent the majority of our time arranging and performing popular music, recording videos of ourselves, and uploading them to Youtube. We are both classically trained, but enjoy listening to so many different genres of music that we're constantly bubbling with ideas!
So far we record our musical ideas into our Blackberrys. We sit down together and exchange our raw ideas, then transcribe our arrangements on sheet music for both studio and live performances. We have started arranging and recording the music, you can hear samples here. Our goal is to create Laced, a one-of-a-kind string/producer creation.
We are really excited to release this project and give you guys a taste of our unique sound. This music is coming straight out of our wild minds and into your stereos, and we are proud to be taking complete creative control of this project.
Where you come in: Stringed instruments are tricky to record because many strings played back at once can sound either very shrill or very muddy. In order to work around that obstacle, we have to spend hours using professional studio equipment that will bring out the best sound from our instruments. That also means we must pay the producer and engineer to make sure we sound great on your iPod, in your car, or at a small party with friends.
We want to be able to distribute LACED at our live performances and also make it available for free online. In order to make this possible, we need your help to raise funds so we can:
· pay for the hours of studio time
· compensate for mixing and mastering each track
· print the artwork
· press hard copies of the CD
· assist with shipping costs for sending our thank you gifts
We do not have a record label, manager, web designer, or business consultant—we do everything in-house. We’re doing the best we can with what we have so far, raising money by painting canvases and making jewelry. We want to share our art with our supporters as thanks (check the right side for details!)
