This is such an interesting premise. If I had found out about it sooner I certainly would have backed it. Very glad that you are working on it regardless, and looking forward to seeing it in action!

Hi Borut, sorry to see that the deadline beat the word. It's an awesome model and you are a great advocate. The good news is we'll be stateside real soon and I'll be putting my pledge in your hand personally.
You're a true frontiersman and I look forward to riding with you again.

Stumbled across your project upon clicking the "Ending Soon" link on Kickstarter's "Discover Projects" section. Sad to see you only have 10 hours left. Yours is one of the most thought-provoking projects we have seen on Kickstarter to-date, and although we are not in a position to make a donation at this time, we just wanted to leave some words of encouragement. Happy to read you will pursue the game's development regardless of the Kickstarer outcome. Keep us posted on Twitter!

That's just the way Kickstarter works, unfortunately - I may put up a non-Kickstarter donation site after the deadline runs out though. Regardless of whether or not I get the funding though, work on the game will continue.

Basically what Kerf said (except for the career thing).
Where it says " This project will only be funded if at least..." - is there any way we can just give you the money? I'm not sure my donation should depend on other peoples.

Your most recent article on Gamasutra finally got me to pledge. I'm really digging your idea, and as a college student heavily considering a career in the game industry, I want there to be room in gaming for stuff like this. Will spread the word.

Hi, love the project idea, Iran is a subject in gaming that has not been explored and needs to be. I am going to pledge. Can you take a look at my proposal http://www.kickstarter.com/community/general-forum/threads/304#1253977258 and send me an invite if it strikes your fancy?

Well, as far the consistency of characters goes, I definitely gave it thought before including that. However Tehran is a pretty large city (16th largest in the world), which tends to bring a hefty amount of diversity no matter what. There are also international students, tourists, etc. Not the most common vacation spot for an American, but it's more common for Europeans to travel there (in fact street signs often have English on them as well because it's still the most likely common langauge among said tourists).

As for the price, it's pretty straightforward - the character will most likely have to have unique sprite animations for all it's actions, so I just tried to estimate the work involved and what it would cost to have an artist do it. I realize it's expensive, but since I'm an indie developer I can't take the risk of losing significant money to incorporate a backer into the game even though I'd love to have more backers feel that personally involved.

I would have liked to do something less obtrusive, some games allow for a backer to incorporate their voice into the dialog, but that's not applicable here.

I have to confess a concern about the price level of in-game character. Quite simply, how can any one individual of any kind of background be a logical fit to a game set in and about the people of Iran? For example, I would not be found in Iran as I am neither Iranian or have an investment in Iran as a real Iranian.

I know I'm shooting blind here not knowing what directions you're taking the project, but it is important to know how you're approaching the core subject matter in light of these obligations.
