Update #19: Jennifer

Posted on July 10, 2010

Nothing stopped my little Jennifer from helping me with every aspect of this project.
Her help and belief in me as an artist is what made all of this possible.
She is my greatest means of support. I love her and have learned so much from her.

Update #15: Fox Woods

Posted on July 10, 2010

Can you find the fox? He is the head-dress for the Indian Lady
The fox is at the top , in a blackish blue color. His eyes are slanted. Below him starts the face of the Indian lady. Her two eyes are white and round and her face is an earthy tone. The rest is her spine ( down the middle) and her body is the earth and trees.

      Dear Cathie,
This is the photo that I love. I flashed on this as soon as I saw it. Would it be possible to have a copy of The Fox? Let me know.
      Thank You.

Cathie Karpf

Has not connected their Facebook account.

Cathie Karpf grew up in Connecticut but has since migrated to the pastoral beauty of Columbia County, New York where she lives with her husband Alex Karpf. From home Cathie has easy access to the majestic terrain of the Berkshires in Massachusetts and the unique light of the sumptuous Hudson Valley.

She has loved taking pictures ever since her children were born over twenty years ago. Inspired by the beauty of their creation she began photographing all of nature’s life around her in the bucolic setting of upstate New York. Cathie presents her photography every chance she gets, even winning a few ribbons in several judge and juried contests as well as Honorable Mentions.

Cathie's vision and fearlessness can be seen in her work resulting in images that pull the viewer in. Her current focus is on the transformation of natural objects into the illusion of color and shape, not just abstract, but with fluidity and control. All of Cathie's work is shot "al fresco" and they are not re-touched. They are photographs, not digital art. This is as close to film photography as you can get.

Cathie's photographs have been featured on formal invitations and greeting card collections. Over the years she has exhibited her work in local shops and restaurants, accumulating thousands of images. Cows are one of her favorite subjects, and she has been hired by farm owners in both Columbia and Duchess Counties to take pictures of their barn animals. She has been a member of the town of Poughkeepsie's Barrett Art Center and currently is with the Columbia County Council on the Arts in Hudson, N.Y.

Besides being the best wife, mother, and grandma she can be, Cathie hopes one day to have her first solo exhibit so she can share her unique view of the outdoors with everyone.
