Between the Seas is the first annual festival in NYC that promotes the work of contemporary Mediterranean performing artists
Now in its second year, Between the Seas Festival is the first and only festival in North America with the mission to promote contemporary Mediterranean performing arts. In August 2011 we presented 14 artists (including Rachel Erdos, Lior Shneior, Malika Zarra, Balletto di Sardegna, Elias Aguirre and Alvaro Esteban), works representing Israel, Egypt, USA, Italy, Spain, Canada, Algeria/France and Morocco as well as 2 USA and 2 NYC premieres (Entomo by Elias Aguirre/Alvaro Esteban, Nur by Balletto di Sardegna, Inside it's raining by Rachel Erdos, Solitaire by Dalia Basiouny) . This year, from August 20th-26th at the Wild Project, we will be presenting performances from Lebanon, Turkey, Israel, USA, Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, a Palestine/Egypt/Syria collaboration and more. Guest artists this year include Turkish choreogrpaher Korhan Basaran, Spain's Kulunka Teatro and the amazing flamenco performer Rebeca Tomas returning from last year's festival with A Palo Seco.
We are really excited to see how rapidly the festival is growing, and witness the enthusiasm of the artists that have embraced it. To us, this is proof that a Mediterranean festival is filling a cultural gap in the city, giving the opportunity to audiences and artists to share works that otherwise might remain inaccessible.
Individual donors are crucial for the materialization and success of this project. Last year, your donations made it all possible by enabling us to pay for space and artists' fees. This year we count on the support of our donors to help cover vital costs: technical staff fees, promotional materials and accommodation for international artists. We are currently trying to raise the amount of $5,000 that will be used towards these expenses.

1. Can I sponsor a specific artist?
Yes you can! Check our website in the coming weeks for the finalized list of participating artist. Once you have decided which performance you would like to contribute to, please talk to us and we will make sure to note "presented with valuable support by..." wherever your supported artist's name appears.
2. I will be away from NYC and I won't be able to use my awards. Can they be transferred to someone else?
Absolutely! Encourage a friend to come to the festival and enjoy your rewards. Just make sure you give us their name beforehand.
3. Is my donation tax-deductible?
