ROCK & ROCKS! Project Green River is an outdoor arts festival in Green River, Utah on September 17. Rock 'N Roll in the desert!
ROCK & ROCKS!
The rural town of Green River comes alive yearly on the third weekend of September, growing from a population of under 1000 residents to over 5000 visitors for the weekend. This year's Project Green River, the only art/music/film festival held in the town ever, will serve as an anchor for Melon Days. Melon Days is a 106-year-tradition celebrating the best melons ever (seriously, they are the best) with seed-spitting contests, a melon growing contest, a parade, vendors galore in the park, and of course, all the free melon you can eat!
After the famous Melon Days parade, the party on Broadway begins at high noon on Saturday! Festivities include: regional rock bands, installation and fine art, and a screening of international short films. All of the attractions are held on Broadway where there will be one main performance stage (in front of Epicenter), one small covered venue (Ray’s Boneyard), and two indoor art galleries (one at Desert Flavors and one in Epicenter). Project Green River, other than being a big celebration of music and culture, is an opportunity to bring attention to the Epicenter's mission of providing affordable housing and small business development resources for the residents of Green River. More on the Epicenter and the Young Professionals that operate it can be found here.
The $7,000 raised here will pay for for the bulk of Epicenter's expenses (stage- $1,800, sound- $1,700, band fees- $1,000, t-shirts and posters- $1,000, other logistics and set-up- $1,000, refreshments- $500). Project Green River is a big production--- the stage and sound are huge. Hey, we don't like to disappoint!
This year's Project Green River paraphernalia is by the renowned graphic designer, Megan Deal, so you know it will be too cool for school. A sneak peek of the t-shirts and posters coming soon...

I want to donate, but I can't come to Project Green River! Can I get another gift for my pledge of $25 or more?
Of course! When it comes time to give you your reward, we can negotiate something of equal value (Say we'll leave you a voicemail of a song during PGR and tell you how you should have come!!! Just Kidding. We'll send you a set of hand silk screen printed postcards or something).
Through local support (Emery County Travel Council, for example), but Kickstarter is our major support! Without this $7,000 we might be unable to hold Project Green River again!!!
Go to http://projectgreenriver.org for more info. The line-up isn't set in stone, but we've got a few really great rock bands sign-up.
An installation by Charlotte X.C. Sullivan, a colorful mural painted by a local artist, high school students' work, a monolithic sculpture by Andrew Rogers, short films from around the world, and much much more...
You won't. We'll have them at the Will Call desk under the name you give us on Kickstarter. See you there!
Email us if you need your tickets transferred to someone else's name.
Green River is the perfect setting for a festival--- plenty of room, beautiful surroundings, and great weather. Plus, with Melon Days going on at the same time, it's a no brainer. Be there.
