LA CAMIONETA comes full circle!
Hey friends,
It's been a while, but I wanted to fill you in on what we've been doing with LA CAMIONETA these past few months and a few exciting things coming up on the horizon.
We've recently redesigned the website for the film and have begun production on some of the rewards for the Kickstarter campaign, so we're very excited to finally be able to send them off to you soon!
This past weekend we screened the film in Harlingen, TX - our first stop on a screening tour through the Rio Grande Valley sharing the film with Texan and Mexican border communities as part of the CineSol Film Festival. We ended the weekend with the fantastic news that we won the award for Best Documentary at CineSol and will be having an encore screening at the Historic Cine El Rey Theater in McAllen, TX later this fall!
According to Chachalaca of La Vida Valle, "It is one of those films you will remember for years to come..."
But the real highlight of the weekend happened here in Guatemala. We rented a screen in a movie theater at the Pradera in Chimaltenango to share the film with everyone who appears in the film and their families for the first time in a small, intimate, and private setting. We learned afterwards that it was the first time seeing a film in a movie theater for many of them. The response was overwhelmingly positive, and it was incredible to see folks connecting and sharing their stories during the lunch that followed. You can see a few photos from the event here. With their blessing and continued encouragement, we're excited to begin rolling out our plans for the Guatemalan premiere of LA CAMIONETA later this fall!
Our next stop is the DC-area premiere at the AFI Latin American Film Festival, where we'll be screening on Sat. Sept 22nd @ 1:00pm and Mon. Sept 24th @ 5:00pm. We've created a Facebook event with all the details & we encourage you to view & share with any friends in the DC-area who might be interested in joining us!
Later this month we'll also be screening at World Film Week at the Varsity Theatre in Ashland, OR on Sept 28th @ 8:15pm, Sat. Sept. 29th @ noon, and Sun. Sept. 30th @ 5:20pm.
There's lots more planned, but we're not allowed to share any bits of news until they have been officially announced. If you're not already following us on Facebook, please do! It will be THE principal hub of all news and announcements as we move forward rolling out the film this fall.
