Update #10: Upon further inspection...
Less than half of you have provided me your mailing addresses!!!
I will still get all of the materials and send out goodies to those who have responded, but I honestly feel much less bad about not having sent it all out now!
Send me your address if you haven't yet!
Update #9: With shame and humility
So now that we are three months after the successful financing of the demo, I believe that I finally have my act together enough to get these demos and t-shirts mailed out.
I greatly appreciate your patience, and I can only hope that this is what you expected out of a band that has no management or proper deadlines.
For any of you in New York, I strongly suggest coming out to our weekly gig at 210 Rivington in the Lower East Side. More details are at www.ThatsGoodness.com (the site of a non-profit record label that my friend Miles is starting). We wouldn't have been able to get together the live equipment without all your generous support and love.
I will post pictures of the mailing process so that you all will believe me that I am not such a slacker anymore.
SO MUCH LOVE,
Jay
Update #8: Almost done!
So I thought when the kickstarter project was successfully funded, that I would be able to shatter a lot of preconceptions about musicians and be able to get you all a proper hard copy of the CD and your shirts etc. in a prompt manner. Here we are almost two months later and I still haven't gotten anything to all of you generous people.
In my defense, I'm sitting next to a stack of 100 perfectly packaged CDs with all the liner notes and everything sorted out - but unfortunately, something went wrong with the burning process and I have to buy and burn 100 more CDs to make use of the wonderful packaging that Jen made me.
I'm taking off for London and Kuwait this afternoon and won't be back til November. At that point I hope to slap myself in to shape and get all these CDs and shirts out to you!
much love, and thanks for your patience
(here's a picture from a gig we played last friday with our new guitar and violin pick-ups that we got with these funds - it was an amazing gig, thanks to YOU!)
Update #7: Gratitude!
So I'm about to go to bed,
and I just realized that the next time I open my computer the kickstarter will be over.
More than anything, I'm incredibly grateful for the support - and inspired by the amount of extra-dollars we have to spend on gear.
We've done a lot of preliminary logistics, and there is a rough budget that includes electric pick-ups for the guitar and violin so we can properly play live.
I expect that we should have all the goodies in the mail by the end of September, we're just polishing off the song mixes, and the album art is coming through nicely.
The last time I hit people up for money to support my music was in 2006 - it was humbling then, and it's inspiring now. I think you will all be happy with the result of the demo project, and with our continued pursuit of being a silly indie-folk band that spreads a lot of good cheer.
I'm sure you'll hear from me in 2014 if not much sooner.
with love,
Jay
Update #6: Success!!!
Hello Friends and Family (and the one beneficent stranger!),
So with a whole 8 days to go we're already 112% funded! Which means that the project will be going forward as planned!
We're getting really excited about how the mixes are coming together, I hope you enjoyed the 'sneak-peek' in the previous post.
The final pieces of the packaging and shirt-producing logistics are being sorted out - and we hope to have everything in the mail by the end of September, I'll be sending out mp3s of the final songs much before that though.
As another treat for you all - here's a picture I took of David's stream-lined shirt-production process! These shirts were commissioned by a co-worker of David's, but we'll be coming up with a new design and getting these all out to those who ordered them!
