We've hit our goal, but that doesn't mean we're finished. This Kickstarter is acting as a subscription drive for the Summer 2012 issue, so the more people that pledge the larger our print run, and the farther the reach of Chickpea. We've still got 10 days to go, so tell your friends!

What is Chickpea?

Chickpea is a quarterly magazine written, photographed, and designed by vegans. We go through a submission process each season and include the best in articles, recipes, photography, guides, products, and more. We're trying to change how people think of magazines. We take content directly from the source, by accepting personal stories and unique points of view from our community. Read more about us at our site: www.chickpeamagazine.com

Why do you guys need a Kickstarter?

We see Chickpea being in stores around the country and around the world. We want it to become a big part of the vegan & vegetarian community. We want Chickpea to succeed because we think it's awesome.

To succeed we need to bring down our costs: With the help of Kickstarter we can increase our subscription rate and drive costs way down, allowing us to give even better deals on future issues. Not only that, but with the raised money we can apply to get bulk rate discounts on shipping, saving you even more in the future. (And putting the money to better use, like paying our contributors!)

We also want to build digital issues: As of right now you can buy the book as a PDF, but wouldn't it be nice to have it available as a full-featured app, be it on an iPhone, iPad, Kindle or Android device? Donating to this Kickstarter will help make that happen, and net you a copy of the finished product! 

A quick note about costs: most of what you're paying for is the "hard cost" of the item: printing, materials, shipping, taxes, etc. Anything that's not those basic costs goes directly to USPS permits, app development, hosting, contributing to our writer funds, and other business expenses.
