Update #15: The show has a title!

Posted on May 7

After lots of polling and collaborating with kickstarter donors, FM's facebook friends, and our own personal sounding boards, we've selected at title for the film:

Racing the Rock: Six Days at Targa Newfoundland

I am also now the proud owner of www.racingtherock.com, though at present there's nothing up!  I'm traveling for work for the next eight days, but I'll try to get the website up shortly after my return!

Update #14: Help us with the title!

Update #13: Moto-Man & the footage share

Posted on April 6

I'm back from the Mazdas at MRLS event this past weekend, and I've got to say that things went pretty well.  We would have liked a little more time with Bill, Brandon, and Teri, but I've got another chance coming up soon when I pass through their neck of the woods on my way to Arizona.

In general, though, this past weekend was a success.  Among all the great race footage, I managed to get interviews with The Art of Racing In the Rain author, Garth Stein, and Miata design legend, Tom Matano.  Oh, and some weirdos named Keith and Janel, too.

In other news, George "Moto-Man" Notaras has posted the first of his four-part feature on the Targa.  For those of you who aren't familiar, Moto-Man raced a white Dodge Challenger in the GT class at the 2011 Targa.  He was working with the SRT factory team, and he was filming quite heavily along the way.  He and I have been sharing footage on this project, and I got some great stuff from him.  Brandon, Zach, and Nancy make an appearance in his program.  I've got to warn you, though, this episode is all the warm-up.  It's a chance to meet the players and be introduced to Targa.  There's not a lot of racing footage in this one just yet.  That should show up soon in the next installment.

Update #12: Laguna Seca is days away!

Posted on March 27

Hey everybody,

I just wanted to drop an update on everyone.  My wife and I have been hard at work on the show in our off hours (yes, we have day jobs), and it's becoming increasingly clear to us that we don't have enough footage of Flyin' Miata's customers.  We're flying out to the Miatas at Mazda Raceway event this weekend in Monterey to film the ending for the film, and we want to get a bunch of short interviews with FM customers.  We're especially interested in interviewing people who have backed the team's racing effort or this film.

If you're going to be there and don't mind saying nice things about the FM crew on camera, please let me know.  Hopefully we can spend a few minutes together.  If you see me running around with camera gear, please introduce yourself.  Or shoot me an email: adam@noscurvy.com, and let me know how to get in touch with you!

Update #11: Miatas at Mazda Raceway

Posted on February 23

I was going to hold onto this update until we had all the travel arrangements firmly in place, but Jeff asked for some new info, so I thought I might as well oblige!

I will be flying out to join the FM crew at the Miatas at Mazda Raceway in Monterey the weekend of March 31 - April 1.  My good friend and fellow Miata owner, Justin, will be making the trip from Maine with me.  We're flying into San Francisco on Friday afternoon, and we'll make our way to Monterey first thing Saturday morning.  We've already arranged press passes, so we should be in position to shoot some great stuff!

We're going to film what will hopefully be the final scene of the film.  More importantly, we want to interview as many FM customers as we can.  Especially those who have contributed to this film or the Targa budget.  As it gets a little closer, I'll drop another update to let you know exactly how things are going to shake out, but if you're going to be there and you're willing to be on camera, let me know in the comments!

Hope to see you there!
