Update #9: L&T funding:Coming to a close

Posted on February 26, 2010

Hey All,
We have 25 hours left to fund this project. I say we all make one last push and throw the posts out there and see what sticks. Keep this in mind, If we don't make it to $8,200.00 by the time funding closes nobody who pledged $ will have the funds removed from their accounts. Lets get this link up on facebook, digg, your private blogs, myspace, google buzz etc and see what we can do in the last few hours of fund raising.
For all of you who donated, Thank you, your pledges mean the world to me and will never be forgotten. Gunnar and I still plan on moving forward with Lilith & Thatch even in the face of adversity. Finding the right people who will work on this thing pro bono will be the tough part. I will continue to work on the models and textures until I find the rest of the crew who are interested in making shorts for shorts sake. If you run across people who love making cgi stuff for fun please pass their info my way. I still need a dedicated character and environmental modeler, rigger and mid to sr level animators who want to be a part of something larger than their demo reels.
With Love,

D. Ryan Reeb

Hey guys, you may have better luck if you offer a more mid range level of support - $20 is much more doable for most people than $40... Having an incentive at key levels can really help move funding...

      Hi Ryan,

I'm bummed this didn't meet goal. I did my best to repost on FB and Twitter, but only discovered Kickstarter a week ago. I hope you'll give it another try, it would be great to see this get made.

T_T Dangit, I wish this would have worked out. Can I still throw my measly $20 towards a paypal account or something?

Update #8: times running out

Posted on February 16, 2010

I just sent out a series of mass emails to handfuls of people I know who would back the project. I am hoping in the next 10 days or so we can raise enough awareness of this project to make the goal. If everybody keeps up the pressure, send emails, post on facebook, post on your blogs, we can make it to our funding goal.

Update #5: New Artwork / Thank You!

Posted on January 17, 2010

Hey Everybody,
Thank you to all who have recently donated to our project and a continued thanks to all of you who have previously helped out. Since my last post, Gunnar and I have been pumping out artwork for pre production. We are narrowing down the details on a refined "Lilith" concept design and created more "King Crow" reference to help achieve a more detailed ZBrush sculpt for him. A good friend of mine named Cathy Morin has joined the team as one of our lead texture artists and Stew Burris (animation lead) is in the process of having Thatch rigged and doing test animations for you all to preview. Stay tuned for more updates as we get closer to our deadline for fund raising.
As you can see we are only at 44% and still have quite some ways to go. We have recently been added back to the front page of kickstarter by their management team which gives me hope. We need you all who have donate to re post this link on Facebook, submit to some of your friends who you know are interested in investing in projects like this one. We are not giving up on this project until it is complete.
Sorry to those of you who have inquired about buying the rights to this project for your own use, the rights are not for sale. We are passionate about this project and want to create it for ourselves. If you feel you have some creative input you would like to offer on the table as a way to ear credit in the film, by all means reach out.
Lets get this baby funded and on the fast track to being a completed film. Thank you all for your continued support.
Sincerely,
-=-Ryan-=-

Update #4: "Lilith & Thatch" New aspects of project update!

Posted on December 23, 2009

Hello,
Thank you everybody for being a supporter of this project. There have been a bunch of inspiring things that have come about since the we started this fund raising initiative. For starters, we're almost at 40% with just over two months to go. Thats amazing! Because of you all we are at 37% and growing.
A few key people have been located. The ever so necessary "pipeline engineer"(Eddie Offermann), that we are looking for has now been discovered along with a couple other supporting engineers, one being an Ardman Animation in the UK! A super talented storyboard artist, Jeffery Thomas has joined up, a number of character modelers have spoken up expressing their interest. A really talented texture artist Cathy Morin had decided to jump on board, her skills have been seen in many of the summer tent poles that have brought in millions of dollars to the film industry i.e. Transformers, Speed Racer etc.. Seems like all of the pieces are falling into place. A few others have come forward saying how they want to be involved in the project once its a bit further along. The story is locked and were waiting on a few key pieces of concept art from Gunnar in order to move the modeling phase along to the next level of detail. Gunnar is slated to have the concept art Lilith and King Crow ready withing the next few days. Once its available I will post for you all to see how that is coming along.
Character Modeling stands as follows:
Thatch: 99.99% modeled 10% textured. Ready to be fully textured / shaded
Lilith: 60% modeled 0% textured waiting on concept art
King Crow 70% modeled 0% textured waiting on concept art
Liliths Environment 75% modeled 0% textured. waiting for modeler to start next phase of modeling.
In order to push our modeling and texturing to completion we need to bring in a couple paid artists to finish the job. We need to spread the word about this kickstarter project.
If you have decided to donate to this project you are either a supporter of the project or a supporter of the people involved. It would benefit us and the project GREATLY if you would please pass the information along to those you know outside of our immediate network. Share the linkswith those you know will be interested in supporting this form of art. Again, this project is not for sale, it is a labor of love from all of the people involved. We are hoping to win our way into some film festivals. We need you to spread the word via email to friends, posts on facebook with your endorsement, twitter with your endorsement. If you know people with blogs or forums who can help spread the awareness of this fund raiser it would help tremendously.
Thank you so much for being involved in this project. Its nice to share with my friends and family the things I'm most passionate about in my life.
Happy Holidays, stay safe and warm. Hug your loved ones.
Sincerely'
D. Ryan Reeb

Update #2: Thank you Jane Young!!!!! "Platinum" level contributor

Posted on December 2, 2009

Thank you Jane for becoming a "Platinum" level contributor. Jane will be receiving a one of a kind, signed original painting by Gunnar for her generous donation.
Gunnar has developed quite the following in the lowbrow art community and his paintings continue to become more and more sought after. Jane is truly a supporter of the arts. Everybody who has put in their time and energy working on Lilith & Thatch thanks you very much.

Update #1: Thank you for a good start

Posted on December 1, 2009

I'd like to thank our first two contributors! It felt so amazing to wake up this morning and have two donations already.
After some harsh criticism from my coworker David, I decided to add some more concept art and work we have in delvelopment to give you all a bit deeper of an idea about the work were trying to bring to life.
I also added a blurb about the basic story outline. I may be adding some story boards and a bit more concept art as time goes on. Stay tuned.
thank you again, lets get this party started!
Ryan
