About this project

Hello I am Corey Messer or better known by my pen name as TiredOrangeCat. In 2006 I started a web comic called Plush and Blood: The Unstuffed. It revolved around the fall of a totalitarian government in a stuffed animal society. Unlike most web comics out there, this story had an ending planned well in advance.  This made it unique in that it was an actual story that ended and not something that was wrung to death in an effort to make it last forever.  The Unstuffed ran for four years, updating twice a week, totaling 415 comic pages. The comic started with a completed script and a simple style.  The style took on a life of its own and evolved into a sophisticated and consistent look.  I wrote, drew, colored, and maintained the comic and its sister forum.  During those four years life happens with its ups and downs, yet I never missed an update. With 300000 hits a month to the site as a sturdy base the comic peaked at nearly 2 million during the second and third acts. I found a loyal and excited fan base that turned into a giant family of sorts. The fans were very excited and always there on the forum.  They discussed the comic in detail with each other.  They would interpolate, and expand on ideas that I had only hinted at.  They were always engaged and wondering what would happen next.  I kept them on their toes for the entire four year run and cemented a dedicated fan base.  They waited patiently for an entire year as I wrote the second story in the Plush and Blood universe titled, Memory's Threads.  I have just finished writing first draft and handed it over to editors. The script itself is 430 pages long and will be an estimated 1500 comic pages in length. I am looking for funding to get me started and maintain a rigid updating schedule. I am very dedicated and self motivated as I have proved time and again with The Unstuffed.

Memory's Threads will look similar to The Unstuffed with an updated style and more detailed environments. I am a big proponent of measuring twice and cutting once.  I do not believe in going into a project half cocked.  This project is very organized and planned out to the last detail.  From loads of concept work, shot lists, board layouts, and art direction I have created a solid Pitch Bible.  This is going to be a massive undertaking but I am ready and willing to go forward.  If I receive full funding for this project I would begin updating five times a week.  This would allow the comic to pull in far greater audience then my previous twice a week update schedule. I already have a very loyal fan base and a good reputation, which translates into a user base already waiting.  

For those that have not read Plush and Blood: The Unstuffed, they will not be left out.  Memory's Threads works in the basic details needed to follow along.  This allows for a much greater audience and also pulls this new audience into reading The Unstuffed.  For those that have read The Unstuffed this will be a search for answers and hidden meanings.  They will be enthralled and submerged in its depths.  

The plot for Plush and Blood: Memory's Threads follows Katt (one of the main protagonists of The Unstuffed) as she journeys through the aftermath of The Unstuffed.  The premise revolves around second chances and what makes us, us. The world has been all but devastated, laid flat by the events of The Unstuffed. With no memories and no world to ask who she was, Katt searches for answers in a society trying to pull itself back together.  Memory's Threads explores the questions, Is it our past experience that makes up who we are?  Is it what we do here and now that makes up who we are?  Is it our intentions?  Who are we? While the people struggle to bring civilization back to a land wrecked by cataclysm the question of God arises.   It is a brutal, dark, philosophical journey.

I am chasing my dream right now.  I have a third story planned after Memory's Threads with the possibility of a fourth.  They will deal with the rise of the Plush and what they have learned from their past.  I love to write and tell a story that engages and entertains people.  Unique characters and original plots have had my readers knocking at my door asking for more.  Entertainment is not the only goal, I want to make people think about the world around them.  I try to bring points across that make them stop and look at reality and ask why.  I believe we have lost a lot of the conceptual nature of story to the glitz and glam.  It is time to bring it back.  My dream is in demand and I would like to supply everyone.  So please fund my dream, because my dream will entertain and open the minds of millions more.
