Jimmy at the Kimo
Hello Everyone,
We know that we've been sending out more updates than normal these past couple of weeks, but we wanted to share an exciting event with you: Jimmy will be interviewed live and will read his poetry this Friday night, 8 PM at the Kimo Theater in Albuquerque. If you have never seen Jimmy live, we highly recommend it. This kind of large public event with him is very rare. For more information, visit the Kimo's website: http://holdmyticket.com/event/134572
And if you're planning on going, can you help us out? We will be handing out flyers about A Place to Stand before and after the event and need some extra hands to join our efforts. If you come along, you'll get a chance to hang out with Gabe Baca, A Place to Stand's producer, and even meet Jimmy. If you're interested and available, please send us an email at info@aplacetostandmovie.com.
And last, we're still working hard to raise the $5,450 we need by May 1st to finish a final rough cut of the entire documentary. We have already raised $1,000 and have $2,000 in pledges on the way. That means we only need another $2,450 and we are SET! Can you help us reach this goal? Your support would allow us to complete the film's animation, original score and final sound mix. You can contribute online on our website - www.aplacetostandmovie.com - there is a donation link at the bottom of the page.
Once again, thank you for the support. Without all of you, we wouldn't be rocketing hard towards the finish line.
With Continued Gratitude,
The A Place to Stand Team
Progress - Swift and Sure!
Hello Again!
In last week's update, a few of our backers alerted us to the fact that the link to our website was broken. Here is the proper one: http://www.aplacetostandmovie.com The Amazon Payments donation link is at the bottom of the page.
Since last Friday, when we launched our final fundraising push, we have already raised $640 with an additional $1000 pledge en route. This means we only need to raise $3,810 more by May 1st and we will be able to complete the final rough cut of the movie. We are so grateful for the burst of support, but we know from experience that we need to keep this energy alive. So, if you haven't contributed to our final push and you're interested, please visit our site. We need your help in this home stretch. As before, all donations are tax-deductible.
If you would prefer to contribute via check, please email us at aplacetostand.documentary@gmail.com and we will send you the details.
And last, to see what some of the raised money will be going towards, check out the images below. They're from one of three animated segments in film. This one is about Jimmy learning to write (you should hear the music our composer, Roger Suen, created for it - we can't wait to share the final version with you!).

Major Milestone - COMPLETE!
Hello Friends!
If you donated to our second Kickstarter campaign, you will be receiving this message twice. Sorry about that, but thank you TWICE for your generosity.
We reached a major milestone today on A Place to Stand and our excitement is fueling our late night workstravaganza. Today we gathered the final bit of content to complete the architecture of the movie. By the time you read this, the heavy load of the film will have been completed. Our talented composer is working on music, we have amazing artists working on animation and we have an exhausted director and producer piecing it all together into the film's first full rough cut. There's still hard work to do and we're still a few month away from completion, but the texture of work has shifted. Now it's all about timing, beauty, flow and polish.
To celebrate, we put together one of the final bonus rewards for the film: a reading from Jimmy's latest collection of poetry, Breaking Bread with the Darkness Vol. 2: The Lucia Poems. It's a fantastic new collection about his beautiful daughter, Lucia. We highly recommending ordering a copy, which you can do here: http://www.amazon.com/The-Lucia-Poems-Breaking-Darkness/dp/1890932434/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1355980836&sr=8-1&keywords=the+lucia+poems
Below, you can check out a preview and hear Jimmy read one the poems.
Enjoy! And thank you yet again for all of your support.
With Continued Gratitude,
The A Place to Stand Team
