I am writing an interactive calclus/differential equations iBook for the iPad.  I have always wanted to get involved in self-publishing a textbook, and believe with today's out of control textbook prices and high college tuition this type of project is more important than ever. I want to offer students an alternative set of math textbooks that cost 1/10th of what a regular textbook costs, and includes not only text but interactivity in terms of videos and built-in quizzes to enhance the learning experience. With the popularity of the iPad and iBooks the opportunity to turn this dream into reality is within our grasp.

This book isn't going to be your typical math book. Videos showing students how to solve problems right in the book will make it a math book unlike any other that's come before it. In addition, the text will be down to earth and readable. I am well suited to develop such a text, having written half a dozen books for McGraw Hill's "Demystified" series.

In addition to an interactive book, the materials developed will be used to create educational apps for the Mac computer, iPad, and iPhone. The goal is to make an advanced math app which will make differential equations, linear algebra, vector analysis, and partial differential equations available to students at low cost.

The book you are currently funding is the differential equations book.  I will complete the Differential Equations book and publish it on the Apple iBooks store.  My ultimate goal is to publish the entire series of books on specific college math topics until the final course is complete. These will then be put together into the apps described above.
