About this project
I got my start making horror films in the 80s. Made a twisted little comedy called PSYCHOS IN LOVE, which you can rent pretty much anywhere. And well...I think it's time to return to my roots.
But the bar has been raised. I look at a film like Takashi Miike's AUDITION, which contains arguably the most brutal ending of any film ever made...with virtually NO blood or gore. And I think to myself..."I can do better than that!"
So...I just got through making a comedy, FRIENDS (WITH BENEFITS). See: www.FWBmovie.com. It's won tons of awards, and will have some pretty wide distribution come Spring 2010...
But I'm still drawn to the dark side...and the theme of how we use sex to escape loneliness. Something I explored in my previous feature, YOU ARE ALONE. See: www.YouAreAlone.com or the trailer above.
So I decided to explore that theme further...in the horror genre. And ONE NIGHT STAND, the second of what I hope will be an ALONE trilogy was born.

Yes, I love making movies. I love telling stories. I'm pretty good at. People seem to like my books and my other films. Captivating audiences, frightening them, turning them on, giving them a new way to look at their lives, their fixations, their fears...what's why I'm here.
What I’m not so fond of is trying to raise the hundreds of thousands of dollars needed today to make a low budget feature.
That’s why I’ve gotten together some of the best craftspeople I’ve collaborated with over the past many years to work for free on what we all consider to be a great script. We have full access to a RED camera package (with acclaimed cinematographer Adrian Correia), a Final Cut Pro editing suite, amazing actors (the film will star Lynn Mancinelli and Alex Brown), crew, musicians to score. And me, Gorman Bechard, the writer/director.
But despite everyone working for no pay, we still need some cash for things like travel, accommodations, food, expendables, film festival submission fees, and a couple of big hard drives to hold all the RED footage…the things that just don’t come for free. We’ve already got some cash in the bank. But need another $2,000 to make this film a reality.
What makes ONE NIGHT STAND special? Well, for starters, we know how to make features on micro budgets. We have a proven track record. (We are not kids just out of film school talking about making a feature. This is what we do.) This is NOT a waste of your money. The film WILL get made, it WILL play film festivals, and you WILL receive your backer prizes.

Then there’s the story itself. Here’s a SYNOPSIS of ONE NIGHT STAND: A young woman seemingly using sex with strangers to ease the loneliness in her life finds herself at the wrong end of a one night stand. Discovering that she has been secretly videotaped for a popular voyeuristic porn site, she turns the tables on her pickup, holding him captive in his own bedroom, making him live through the same indignities he’s inflicted on his video subjects, brutalizing him and his friends, as she ultimately decides if he should live or die. And he ultimately discovers he's brought home the wrong girl. (WGA registered)

Gorman Bechard is the author of seven novels, THE SECOND GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD, UNWOUND (under the pseudonym Jonathan Baine), NINTH SQUARE, THE HAZMAT DIARY, GOOD NEIGHBORS, BALLS, and the soon-to-be-released NOT SO PRETTY.
He directed/wrote the indie features FRIENDS (WITH BENEFITS) (2009) and YOU ARE ALONE (2006), the horror comedy cult-classic PSYCHOS IN LOVE (1986), as well as the award winning shorts OBJECTS IN THE MIRROR ARE FURTHER THAN THEY APPEAR (2003) and THE PRETTY GIRL (2000).
He recently completed COLOR ME OBSESSED, a feature-length documentary on the Replacements, the greatest rock ‘n’ roll band of all time, and is in pre-production on ONE NIGHT STAND, a psycho-sexual horror film and BROKEN SIDE OF TIME, a dark thriller, that are parts two and three of his planned ALONE trilogy.
