About this project

I have already traveled to 36 out of 50 states so far this year. You can see some of my photos from the road in this flickr collection.

Now I have 14 states left, and two of them - Alaska and Hawaii - are hard to get to! I'd like to be able to take the rest of them out in a single trip: starting from Detroit and traveling through Minnesota, N. Dakota, Montana, Idaho, and Washington, to Seattle (where I can ferry to Alaska and back) down the coast through Oregon to California (where I can take the cheapest flight to Hawaii), and back through Utah, Colorado, Wyoming, S. Dakota, Nebraska, and Iowa.

I am trying to raise $5000 in support of this goal, to cover gas, round-trip ferry to Alaska, round-trip flight to Hawaii, food, and basic accommodations along the way. At the end of the trip, it is my intention to make a photo-book and a set of 50 full-color state postcards.
