Update #13: PAYPAL is Set UP! Thanks for sticking with us!
Fine Friendly Folks,
So many of you returned emails in support of NAMSS and I thank you!
I will be responding to each and every one and I must apologize for the delay in communication.
Managing a full time day job AND the COTFG while leading up to this incredible 3 days of programming is a big task, and email time takes a hit.
I have been hard at work!
I want to point out to you the PayPal account I have created.
https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr...
If you still wish to donate, you may do so conveniently through PayPal!
I leave you with my phone number 512/786.2015 if you want to talk to me. Don't be afraid to pester me with phone calls! I might be a little hard to reach, but you'll get me!
Take a look at this lineup! INCREDIBLE! This is where your donations will be at work, supporting this rich 3 days of programming and education! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Update #12: We are going ahead with the festival! WE CAN STILL USE YOUR HELP!
Hi folks, and thank you once again for your support and enthusiasm.
We're going ahead with this ambitious festival plan! There are 40 separate groups of artists and musicians signed up to participate, so we'll have a VERY FULL 3 days of programming lined up at SVT & USAA for you! WE CAN STILL USE YOUR HELP AND FINANCIAL SUPPORT! Please consider donating the amount you've pledged in support of NMASS .
If you are still interested in backing this effort, please contact me directly: Aaron Mace churchofthefriendlyghost@gmail.com & 512/786.2015
How is it happening? Well folks, everyone is pretty much performing for free! There isn't a participating artist with NAMSS who seems to care nearly as much about getting paid for their time and creativity, as getting this festival out of the gate and having a great time! Every one of the participating artists is united in creative spirit to make this happen just because we CAN! A culturally rich alternative to the Austin festival norm is possible, and we're ready to blow it up in just 3 weeks!
How can you help? Well, the money pledged from you 44 backers will still come in VERY handy to help this festival. We still need money to offset airfare and to pay our visiting artists Christopher Tignor, Rob Collins, ( two of the five musicians in Slow Six )Trio Tarana, Tatsuya Nakatani, and Omar Tamez for the excellent workshops that they will be conducting.
If we were somehow able to retain the entire $3, 684 that has been pledged, we would be able to include Eugene Chadbourne! If we got very lucky with airfare, we could still include our planned keynote speaker Chris Schlarb! (they would both conduct workshops as well, by the way!)
I do not think it realistic to raise the entire amount that was pledged, but I DO think we should go for $2, 684 - just $1000 less than the pledged amount. $2,684 will still help in a BIG way to make this first NMASS the best it can be!
Your money will go directly to airfare and out of state artist artist fees, freeing up COTFG's modest resources for things like equipment rental ( we will need an extra sound system at USAA so that we can use the outdoor stage! ) and staff support ( our two professional, volunteer sound engineers may not have the bandwidth to handle this GIANT roster of 40 artists and groups!) Professional staff support to improve festival logistics WILL cost a little bit of money!
If you are still interested in backing this effort, please contact me directly: Aaron Mace churchofthefriendlyghost@gmail.com & 512/786.2015
Success with this first permutation of NAMSS will set the stage for establishing an annual event! This is our opportunity to set something new and valuable in motion and create a positive cultural movement!
I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
Thank you,
Aaron Mace
PS: VOLUNTEER HELP IS WORTH ITS WEIGHT IN CASH! Please contact me if you're willing and able to volunteer on the 17th, 18th, and 19th of June:
Stage Managers
Sound Engineers
Drivers (with station wagons or vans, to transport visiting musicians and equipment)
Hosts ( comfortable rooms for visiting musicians is a must! We will need accommodation for musicians total over the 17th, 18th, and 19th of June)
Cooks! ( want to make or provide a meal for our visiting artists? They make WONDERFUL company for a home cooked meal or picnic!)
Event Organizers ( want to host a post NMASS happening on the 17th, 18th, or 19th! There are already some very cool ideas circulating )
Update #11: Onion A/V Club Bit Today! WIll it generate momentum?
That is a pretty funny little bit. Thanks Dan!
Trying hard to generate Pollyannism here!
Seriously though, we have less than a week and over 12,000 to go. YIKES!
There has been a little surge in the past few hours but we have 6 days and a lot of money left to raise!
The Best things YOU can do is to find us on Facebook, give the NMASS a thumbs up, and ask your Facebook friends to do the same!
Don't forget to tell friends! It could still take wing in the 6 days we have remaining. We could tip this over with a Facebook buzz!
You are seeing this update in your email inbox because YOU pledged (not everybody gets these updates) so we definitely know you're behind the mission. Thank you so much for the confidence, support, and enthusiasm. You may have thought because you've pledged you're off the hook for these speeches. No so lucky! Folks, we're counting on YOU to be our most vocal supporters!
I witnessed John Pointer raise $4K for a 2010 SXSW related party to take place at the Zach Scott Theater. He managed it in under 4 hours.
Point is, the momentum we need is possible and has been demonstrated in Austin within the last 12 months. The more people out there who are visibly excited about it, the better our chances!
Letter to the editor of the Austin Chronicle anyone?
High Five! Facebook! Twitter!
If we want it to happen we have to shout it out!
Thank you again, so much!

Update #10: 10 days to go!
Wonderful show of support! Thank you everyone, very much!
We have announcements running on KOOP radio right now, and an article coming out in the Onion next Thursday. Those things will probably help us with a few more backers.
What do you think? We have 12,000 to raise in ten days!
Remember to help get the word out if you find an opportunity!
Hopes UP!

Update #9: The NMASS Project Proposal got a little rewrite!
Hopefully the rewrite will help!
I think some folks have been having a hard time understanding what it's all about. I trimmed the fat on the project explanation, and created some more direct language. (It still doesn't qualify as a "pitch" yet)
Hmmm, I wonder what will make this idea REALLY take hold?
Everyone says we need a video of course, that will help!
We have a video coming soon! We shot the video and it needs an edit - keep your eye out this weekend!
The idea is solid, but we need some marketing.
