Hello Fitzroy backers! Next week we are back in the studio and then off to the sub again to finish shooting some of the scenes we couldn't fit into the schedule a few weeks ago.   

As a little treat for you all we've got the latest in a series of behind the scenes videos covering the making of The Fitzroy. Our production designer Natalie O'Connor explains the issues with working on a sub and trying to get a studio set to match the location environment. We also show for the first time, some behind the scenes footage of the filming being made.

That's a wrap! Well, at least for now..  We'll be doing a few more days filming and pickups towards the end of the month so stay tuned.

Sixteen days ago on April 15th filming began on The Fitzroy and it's been an unbelievable adventure right the way through. We could never have undergone this journey without the support from all of you. In the end, when The Fitzroy is released, we hope that you enjoy the film that you have all helped make happen as much as we have making it happen. As little thank you we’d like to share with you a few stills from some of the footage we’ve shot so far!

The Studio Shoot

It feels like its been a long time since our last update and its only been a week. So much has happened, and the whole team have been working solid since without a day off, they have been incredible!

We wrapped on the sub last Monday and moved into the studio in East Acton on Tuesday.

In the studio we’ve been filming the entire bedroom, galley and storage hold scenes, as the sub is simply not large enough for us to be able to successfully film those scenes there. An example of the galley set can be seen with this 360 interactive video - thanks to Alex Scott.

We’ve been working long days and its been completely worth it. We are really happy with how the rushes are looking and spirits have been very high across the cast and crew.

The schedule has been over running slightly and everyone was good enough to come in and work on Sunday to get back on track. We have three more days left in the studio including this one before we wrap for the time being.

There will be a couple of extra days filming and couple of pick up days on the sub. Hopefully we’ll be able to show you some footage soon. We are really keen to show you guys something soon and before anyone else! After all you are our favourite people in the world.

Sorry it would seem the last update had a broken image in it of Dylan, so we thought we'd post a quick update with a few more images of Dylan's trip to the sub on Saturday.

We have just started the 2nd week of the shoot on The Fitzroy. Its been an unbelievably brilliant first week and a real challenge. 

As we write this Bernand (AKA Cerith Flinn) has been busy delivering the breakfasts for all the guests. Hopefully you agree it has a stiking resemblance to the original concept art. 

The first week has all been on location on the Black Widow Russian submarine in Rochester. Shooting on a submarine has thrown up quite a few logistics problems. Some we were able to plan for and others have come as a complete surprise. The cast and the crew have been brilliant and been patient in the tricky conditions. 

Below are a couple of images of the set, first up Andrew discussing the next shot with Ken Collard (The Inspector) and the DP Ciro Candia.

We are running a bit behind schedule, but its worth it as we are thrilled with the footage we have got so far. Anywhere you seem to point the camera, the sub just looks fantastic on camera, we really couldn't be any happier and can't wait to show all of you some of the footage. 

Next week we are in the studio in Acton which should be a lot more comfortable experience. Here's a little sneak peak of the fantastic work our production designer Natalie O'Connor has been doing with her many helpers to re-create the submarine corridor. 

We've also had a few vistors on the sub this past week. First on was one of  Exec. Producers James Donnett, and it was fantastic to put a face to such a generous backer. Today we have Michael on board who's travelled all the way from Austin, Texas to be with us. On Saturday we had Dylan and Pat come down to the sub. Dylan's uncle Kevin was generous enough to buy him the present of calling wrap on the shoot. Hopefully he had a good day and learnt a lot of what happens on a film set...generally a of waiting!
