We publish fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and visual art. We favor well-crafted work which gives reason to pause and think.
Change moods. Change minds. We’re looking for verse, prose, photography, and paintings that carry intellectual and emotional weight. Work that has something to say. To reveal. To teach. Something that will make our audience pause and think. Blow our hair back. Show us what you’ve got. We dare you.
Whether you’re a writer or a visual artist, you know that your chosen craft is a lonely endeavor. It gets even lonelier when you start wondering if you don’t have the right connections to get your work published. As an antidote to that largely unfounded but sometimes crippling paranoia, we prescribe Chocorua Review.
Chocorua Review provides a place for newcomers to see their work published alongside award-winning artists. We’re dedicated to bringing great art to as large an audience as possible, judged solely on its merits and its fit with our aesthetic.
Armed with nothing more than this philosophy and over a decade of combined publishing experience, we created Chocorua Review, dedicated to showcasing the latest and greatest writing and visual artwork.
In addition to the digital edition, we’ll have our glossy, full-color print edition. After the sunspots, Mayan calendars, meteors, and the zombie apocalypse, it will be important to leave a tangible record of your work for the next inhabitants to find. And besides all that, it’s kind of cool to hold your work in your own hands.
What we don’t have is the money. If you, too, are a believer, please pledge what you can spare. We already have many submissions, and some truly visionary work queued up to share, but we need your help to bring it out into the light. Times are tough right now, we know, but we find it ironic that just when the world could use more creativity and imagination, budgets for art and artists are the first to shrink.
We’re dedicated to this ongoing project and we work for free, burning a ton of midnight oil and wearing through a lot of elbow grease, but unfortunately, the printers, web-hosts, and other services charge fees.
With Kickstarter, it’s all or nothing. If we don’t raise the full amount by the deadline, we get none of the money. So please “kick in” today.
There are some rewards you’ll receive if you pledge, but what’s really cool is you’ll know you helped bring more creative work into the world. You’ll have encouraged artists to keep at it, while sending the message to others that there are still folks out there who care about hard work, talent and beauty, moxie and craft.

Printing, postage, web hosting, submission web manager, etc. Nothing that isn't a direct expense of putting the CR out.

Well, we have a page count in mind, but it was limited by the funds we expected to raise. If we exceed $1800 we can add pages, which means being able to accept even more of the great work that is coming our way. If we get to a point where the CR is getting too long, too many pages, we'll apply the money left to the next issue of CR coming out in Spring 2013.

Well, a payment made offline won't help us officially reach our Kickstarter target, and if we miss our target we don't receive any of the pledge money...but your contribution would certainly help cover expenses. If you really never use Amazon.com and sites like that, you can send us a check. Email us at ChocoruaReview@gmail.com with "CHECK FOR CR" in the subject line, and we'll send you details on how.
