Luminous is a short narrative film from the perspective of Sam, a young boy who runs into a dark forest to escape from his abusive father. The story melds one boy's fears with the surreal world that lies beneath.

About us

Vibrant Films is an up and coming production company in the Bay Are of California. We believe that film-making is a powerful tool that can bring you to a place where the lives of others become one with our own. 

In the past we have worked on web commercials and short documentaries but now we are in graduate school and are honing our skills in the narrative/storytelling realm. Matt Barkin is our writer/director who is studying directing at the Academy of Art University. His last short titled, "Thick as Thieves" is premiering on PBS in the spring. He is a published writer, and has had his work featured in local Bay Area news outlets and in the NY Times. 

Adam Ducharme is the director of photography. He has worked for NBC, the NBA, Discovery, and DGA productions as a cinematographer.

Why do we need your help?

Filmmaking is expensive and our company is putting all of it's resources into this project. We have a story to tell and we need your help to tell it! 

Gear rentals, food, gas, and permits all cost money. Our goal within the Kickstarter community is to raise enough funds to complete our project and pay off our looming fees. 

A few of our costs:

Lens Rentals:  $200 
Honda Generator Rental: $200 per day for 4 days Total: $800
Food for cast/crew: 5 days at an average of 50$ per day
