It was in the survey.
Creator Lennart 1 day ago
Same problem here. Can you please point us to the info on what cables come for which cameras? Thanks in advance.
Creator Chema 2 days ago
Hi
I need to verify that the cable it's correct for my camera model (I've changed it and I don't remember for one I did the selection) and I need to change my shipping address.
How can I do it?
Thanks
PS I'm so excited. I can't wait to have it in my hands (sorry for my english)
Creator Kevin Cossio on May 15
Looking forward to tomorrow's update... hoping for some final product photos / videos / samples / specifications... maybe even a shipping date?
Creator Seshan on May 15
I just hope I get mine for my camping trip at the end of June, I'd hate to have to wait another year before I go camping again to use it. :(
Creator James Dang on May 14
Received an order confirmation today!
Doesn't look like they are too far away!
Creator Seshan on May 14
Looks like people are starting to get the Radians.
Creator Kenny Friedman on May 2
It's getting to the point where I'm getting antsy and about to ask for a refund. Not necessarily because of the timeline push but the lack of information. The Updates every two weeks are not happening.
I ask Oscar for one of two things. Consistent updates every two weeks. Or let's say the 1st and the 15th of every month.
Also I'd love it if he held a little thing for the folks in the Twin Cities to see the production model and verify all is good.
Both seem reasonable.
If neither happen I will reluctantly ask for a refund.
Creator Kevin Cossio on April 30
You should have received the parts by now according to your last update. And by now I'm sure you have either given the go ahead for mass production or gone back to redesign something... we sure would appreciate an update.
Creator Charles Conner on April 27
He hasn't walked away and he has updated this. I understand how this works. I am not disappointed. If you want to see disappointment look up the CAMCRATE kickstarter project.
Creator janotterstetter on April 18
Oscar can you please post some real production shots / photos would be great :-)
Creator Jonathan Darling on April 16
Due to the repeated delays and lack of communication with updates. I would like to request a refund of my $200 Pledge. You can contact me at: jdarling84@gmail.com
Thank you.
Creator John McCormick on April 11
During the time that there is less to talk about because of going into production it would be great to see some time-lapse videos created using the device.
Any chance that special edition in black will ship at the same time as the others or is this doing to cause delay?
Creator Chris Staring on April 3
@hendrik, I may just take you up on that offer! Are you able to shoot me an email at chris@skaremedia.com :)
Creator Hendrik Osula on April 3
Chris, I'm from Estonia, Tallinn. I really recommend you to visit our old town and if you want to, I can be a middle-man for you.
Creator Kevin Cossio on April 2
Based on the blueprints in update 17, the sealed gearbox design that you guys were working on (Update 12, December) that caused so many delays last year didn't make it into this "final" design. I guess you didn't want to alarm everyone by communicating to us that you had scrapped that design as well.
Will it meet or exceed the original torque and speed specifications? How large of a lens will this current design support?
Creator Chris Staring on April 2
I really do not want to cancel my pledge so is anyone in Europe willing to receive this on my behalf and I can pick it up when I travel through? Only problem is I am traveling without any solid plans! I know for sure I will be spending a bit of time in Germany, Especially Berlin. Madrid, Amsterdam, even Poland or Italy... The UK/Ireland will be out though as I will be there from 2nd June til maybe 20th June... Any help would be awesome! And I will deff take you out for a beer :)
Creator luca vascon on April 2
Dear Oscar.
I'm looking forward Astro for 360 panoramic uses (I project panoramic heads and tools since 1998), and I was one of the 1$ backers. I really hope the thing will come to light. I will be happy to buy one or two (if the software can synchronize 2 of them) for my projects and to substitute one that wants a refound.
Please contact me to info@officinepanottiche.com.
All the best!
Luca.
Creator Oscar Ramírez on April 1
@Brendan Quaife
We understand your expectations, unfortunately that’s not how it works, in our case the high demand has required us to do much more work and create a far better product to meet a wider range of expectations.
@Ed Resek
We know it’s a common mistake in product development to add feature after feature and never deliver. We are aware and have been careful to avoid this. Our goal is to bring you a robust product with a well-defined set of reliable features. I don’t think anyone wants a product that does not work.
@Simon @Nicholas
We agree, we could be better at communicating, it’s our goal to be better at it.
@JJ
I agree, we had to deal with an overwhelming amount of stuff for the past weeks and communication has not been great, we will try harder from now on.
@Doug Birling
Great way to put it! Yes, Astro will be much better, thanks for your support.
@CM Palmer
We can definitely do a better job at keeping you guys updated. We expect to have a lot to talk about now that we are starting production :)!
Creator Brendan Quaife on March 31
hmm - I keep looking at the words on the right as I type "$412,998 pledged of $50,000 goal". One would expect that with such a massive amount of over 7 times the goal - that work would be 7 times faster?? Thank the good Lord we didn't just hit the 50k amount - who knows how long it would have taken!
Creator David Taylor on March 28
April 1st ? Commonly known as April Fools day which is very fitting as you have taken us all for fools Oscar. You were clearly not in a position to deliver a final product when you pitched to Kickstarter. You had an idea, nothing more. Only now are you starting to develop that idea and I'm sorry, that's not what I signed up for so I feel justified in asking for a refund. So you have two options: Your April 1st posting (that I believe most of us fear will never materialise - again) needs to either give a firm, definite delivery date or should detail how we can have a refund of the funds you took from us under false pretences. Anything less than I shall investigating methods of reporting this scam as fraud.
Creator Ed Resek on March 28
Oscar, quite honestly, enough is enough. And I mean that quite literally in the sense of the product: we want the Astros as they are, not how they could be if you spend more time re-designing them.
Going for stretch goals is what us 'investor/buyers' were meant to be doing. It's not what you're meant to do with the final product and it's capabilities.
I sincerely hope that in the April 1st update we're going to hear about the end of the engineering process and some solid dates for production and shipping. Please listen to all these comments and make sure the update does not include any more delays just because with more time you can probably fit a laser show inside the casing...
Creator Simon Schaller on March 27
Thanks Nicholas, I'm with you...
I do not worry about the delay, BUT about the communication! Oscar, it's not such a big thing to look here every two days and post some pieces of information...
Creator Nicholas Gang on March 27
This is extremely frustrating. I understand delays, but there are better ways to communicate that to people.
Oscar, you set a goal of correspondence at the bare minimum every 2 weeks and we're nearing a month before we hear from you. I can't speak for everyone, but part of MY frustration is you knowing certain details that will derail shipping but waiting the full 2 weeks (and then some) to let us know. Here we are, all expecting good news (Wrapping up! - Dec 18, Final Sprint - Feb 19), only to be surprised with more issues.
I know that is to be expected but stuff like this:
"Last time we mentioned that mechanical work was 100% done. Well it turns out it’s not quite"
Would imply we're actually regressing. All I want is some transparency on your part. How about letting us know of any issues as they arise?
I had a difficult time deciding between the Astro and the Radian as both were being funded at the same time. I thought the Astro was a better product with more options so I chose it despite the price being slightly higher. Just out of curiosity, I took a look at Radian's page to see how their backers are reacting. Though Radian also has not yet shipped, they're communicating with people and being upfront about things. Zero mentions of a refund request from users.
Just something to think about...
Creator JJ on March 26
Oscar, I can only imagine how busy you are, but you really need to make an effort to at least answer some of the questions in this comment board. Also, your updates seem to be one way conversations without answers to some of the questions posted by your investors. Since your last delay in December with your expected delivery of the March/April timeframe, there has not been any actual communication of more delays and we are nearing April. In update #15, you stated you were close to production. Is it already in production?
Creator Ryan Capulong on March 25
I hope the April 1 update gives us a little more hope that the product will be complete. I'm really excited but the excitement already degrades proportionally over time.
Creator Oscar Ramírez on March 25
Hello everyone, we are a little late on our update, have been incredibly busy. We will return to the normal bi-weekly update on April 1st. Sorry for the delay.
Creator Doug Birling on March 24
On the plus side the backers have traded time for quality, from the sound of your testing we will receive a second gen product while investing in a first gen at the expense of time.
Now any update?
Creator Sasank on March 24
Why we have to keep reminding that 2 weeks are over and we are still waiting for update??
Creator CM Palmer on March 22
I have to disagree with Mr. Meers below.
It would be great if you could post another update on what factors are going into your time estimate and why your dates keep slipping. I want to remain confident that we will see a product, but we've had no communication in the last two weeks, when you said, "We know you guys want to hear ETA and we would like to give one now but we need a little more time in order to give a reliable date. Just a little bit of patience, we promise it will be worth it." That update was actually somewhat disheartening, because it looked like the delay was out of a desire to make the product do more than what had originally been promised. Remember that the perfect is the enemy of the good. We understand that a first generation product will have flaws and limitations.
Please don't take this to mean that I've lost all faith. Pebble also tested my patience with delays, but they delivered, and you can, too. Still, you have to give us reason to keep believing. Pebble talked in detail about their manufacturing, QA, etc. which helped backers stay confident. Please talk to us and tell us what is going on.
Creator Felipe Gordillo Corvalán on March 22
Is there anyway to get refund? i got a bit tired
Creator Kevin Cossio on March 22
It's been a couple of weeks since you guys solved the problem of reading the position of the rings... any news? Do you have a functioning prototype of the re-designed device you can show us? Any idea when manufacturing will begin?
Creator JJ on March 15
Oscar, love the fact that you are consistently improving on the product but can we assume that you are still sticking to the March-April timeframe as posted in update #12 and your reemphases in your comment in update #13 ? .The last delay was due to the US/Mexican and Chinese holidays.
Schedule still good ?? Is it already in production ??
Creator karielyn_n on March 13
sony changed the connector on the newer cameras.. If I get a different camera in the future where would I get a cable?
Creator Hamish Ahern on March 9
3 months over?
Creator Steven William Blackwood on March 7
Hi, could you change my cable to an N1? My name is Steven Blackwood.
Creator Kevin Cossio on March 7
Friendly reminder that it's been more than 2 weeks since the last update (which was a good update by the way!).
Is the circuit design finalized?
Has production started yet?
Any shipping date (or month) you can share with us? An updated timeline would be great.
Can you share a video of the app actually controlling an astro?
Creator Kirpa Singh Gulati on March 4
How's the time line looking like now guys?
Creator Alistair on February 23
i so so so can't wait to get mine, please get it right, but release soon.
:D
Creator Kenny Friedman on February 21
@Kevin Cossio @Simon Simson last week on a video shoot we put a small video camera on an ikea egg timer and shot away... It wasn't even b-roll more like d-roll, but it looked pretty cool. I suspect the Astro will be better than both
Creator Kevin Cossio on February 20
@Simon Simson That's a pretty cool idea, but simplified is an understatement. It says "wind up the top" ... it's nothing more than a wind-up kitchen timer with a mount on top. Spring powered, no electronics. Want it to turn faster? "...multiple Drift TimeLapses to be stacked together for faster rotation". The intervals are actually a function of the camera itself.
Creator Simon Simson on February 19
looks like someone borrowed your idea and got a simple version out.

Creator Nick Meers on February 19
YAY!
Well one of the huge downsides of Kickstarter is obviously that time frames become fictional as development continues to throw up new challenges - especially when so oversubscribed, which obviously has created a massive numbers game for the production.... sounds like a logistical nightmare to me.
But the huge UPside is that this product is getting better and better since its inception: Might I remind you grumpy folks who are demanding your money back that the whole point is that you signed up to a glorious experiment, which in this particular case seems to be getting better every day, and far in excess of what we all originally signed up to.
I think this is really exciting news Oscar, and of course cannot wait to get my sticky paws on Astro.... but I'm very happy to wait while you improve it to the very capable beast which it is about to become, and I congratulate you on your ingenious invention (and on your lovely new family addition).
You take as much time as it takes to make it perfect please, as by the time it gets to the other side of the Atlantic, my little Astro is going to work its butt off for months to earn its keep, and I would rather that it performs well under pressure than to have to return it after a short time of playing Guinea-pig tester.
More power to your collective elbows, gentlemen, and good luck in the days ahead.... I can't wait!
Creator Vincent A. Palma on February 19
Hey! I will need to change shipping address cause I didnt think My move out of this appartment would come before this product I bought 7 months ago.... ;)
Creator Oskar M on February 19
Thanks for the update!
Creator Kevin Cossio on February 18
16 Days since the last update. Please be more timely with updates. Regular communication is vital to keeping people happy around here.
Creator Seshan on February 17
No update? I'd like a refund, Please contact me.
Creator Lawrence Lui on February 14
Oscar, I want to paid the shipment, please let me know, I was from Hong Kong.
Creator Euwing Tham Tatt Wah on February 8
Seriously, how do I get a refund? :)
Creator Simon Schaller on February 4
@Oskar M - there is an update, didn't you see it? ;)
