The Donut Cooperative is the start-up project of Dawn Lee and Laura Kennedy devoted to bringing (finally!) high quality, unique, artisan donuts to Minneapolis using the best local, natural ingredients from small farmers and suppliers.
The Coop will strive to provide a fair, 'better than living-' wage to its workers and devote a portion of profits to community activism. We aim to provide the best, freshest fair trade coffee your hard earned dollar can buy, and to provide bicycle delivery within the Twin Cities (and, dreaming big, eventually using a biodiesel vehicle when necessary) . The Donut Cooperative aims to be as green as possible, using reclaimed and recycled materials in its storefront and packaging. We're a women-run operation tired of bland, sub-par cake donuts that dominate the local market. Face it, folks. There's a dearth of decent donuts (who doesn't love alliteration?) in Minneapolis. Your donations will help us to acquire the equipment, transport and dedicated space to make good donuts here a reality!
Donations will go towards the appliances and machinery that we need to produce in bulk--fryers, proofers, and the like--which run about $3,000 apiece! We're also looking for any tips on brick and mortar storefront spaces, awesome local foods suppliers, and interested bakers and baristas! Tell a friend! You can also 'like' us on Facebook (hotlinked at the top of this description).
We love Minneapolis and think we deserve delicious, original flavors made from honest, natural ingredients. Peanut butter and jelly, Meyer lemon and sour cream, maple bacon, and vegan options will all make an appearance, along with weekly specials and freshly ground fair trade coffee.
