Update #6 · May 26, 2012 · comment

Dear friends: Thank you so much for helping us to reach our initial goal! You have enabled us to print the internegative and projection copy of one new cycle of ENIAIOS. Of course, this is an ongoing restoration and printing project so all new contributions in the remaining 7 days are just as necessary and appreciated!

Please enjoy this interview with Robert Beavers which just appeared in the Lumière film journal from Madrid. In it, Robert has shared a few excerpts of Markopoulos' essay "The Complex Illusion," which will be the core of the publication produced for the 2012 Temenos screenings.

We are also pleased to share now these images (shown in alphabetical order below) by artists Adam Bartos, Helga Fanderl, and Pawel Wojtasik, which will be part of the postcard series produced for our Kickstarter supporters. Pawel's image was taken at the 2008 screenings of our fearless projectionist Kathryn MacKay who will be beside the projector again this year!

"a key geographical point of inspiration."

Update #5 · May 19, 2012 · comment

In this article, Robert Beavers talks to Indiewire.com about realizing the next Temenos screenings of ENIAIOS, which remains one of the longest films ever created. "We have this extraordinary natural location with a very special local population that is helping it to happen.  We can do this because there is no infrastructure there and the costs are minimal...The experience of time during these projections is a different way of experiencing time than anything I've ever known, not simply because of the film's length, but also because of the wonder of the rhythm that is created in the films."

Please spread the word to your email contacts about this campaign and share with your social media outlets (Facebook, Twitter, etc.). Every contribution counts, at whatever level.

Images for postcard series by Lizzie Calligas and Michael Wang

Update #4 · May 17, 2012 · comment

We are pleased to share two new images by artists Lizzie Calligas and Michael Wang which will be part of the postcard series produced for our Kickstarter supporters.  Calligas took the black and white photograph in 1986 at the last of the early Temenos screenings Markopoulos and Beavers held at the site in 1980s, when she first met the filmmakers. Wang's image was taken at the most recent screenings in 2008.  His writing about the screenings (and two of his photographs) then appeared on Artforum.com.  Here are their images:

Traditional small bags made for the Temenos

Update #3 · May 12, 2012 · comment

We have a new reward to announce at the $80 level: specially-made "tagaria" or small bags. These woven satchels of wool and cotton, measuring about 8 x 8 inches (20 x 20 cm) with a shoulder strap, will be made to order for us by a friend in Arcadia in the traditional textile handicraft of the region.  These "tagaria" were once used by local farmers to carry their tools and lunch in the fields.  Below are recent examples of her work.

Images for postcard series by Luke Fowler and F.P. Boué

Update #2 · May 12, 2012 · comment

Here are the images by artists Luke Fowler and F.P. Boué which will be made into two of the limited edition postcard series for our Kickstarter supporters.  These images were taken at the 2008 Temenos screenings by the artists. Fowler's image portrays the landscape, clear skies, and strong sunlight of the Arcadian summer. Boué photographed the brightly painted beehives that are found throughout the hills in Arcadia from the bus bringing Temenos spectators from Athens to the screenings. (Images from other artists will be announced in further updates.)
