Kickstarter

So, I've spent months recording this album—a followup to Oh, Light, which I was really proud of (it got Critic's Pick in the New York Times, but more importantly, friends, family, and a bunch of people I've never met seemed to like it, which makes me happiest).

I essentially lived in my closet for two months, tracking hundreds of layers of vocals, bowed guitar, toy instruments, gamelan percussion I lucked into possessing.....  pretty much everything I had to make sure this new record could meet the pressure I've put on it. And then I spent about a year afterward, tweaking things, throwing away songs and adding new ones—obsessing over it.

But now it's done. It's been mastered, and I'm days away from sending it all off to be manufactured.

And I'm ecstatic.

So now I need to come down to earth again, and pay for everything. Also, I have two special plans for this record that I didn't have with the last one:

1. I want to release it on vinyl—beautiful, warm, special vinyl.

2. I want to tour for the release—through the beautiful, warm, special country.

This is partly for me (I love playing, I love seeing people, I love traveling, and I want to do both more), and partly for you (I'm told the kids today don't care for Compact Diskettes—it's true, I think).

So, I'm asking you for help—a small donation, a large donation: it's all important to getting me to a place where I can put out this album on vinyl, and give it a proper release tour.
