About this project
CCA (www.ccasantafe.org) and Meow Wolf (www.meowwolf.com) are ecstatic to announce CHIMERA, a revolutionary arts education program that focuses on teaching collaborative practice through hands-on project-based arts learning.
Collaboration is something that Meow Wolf has been exploring intimately for years. By going into the public school system and directly into art classrooms, Meow Wolf looks to impart this sense of collaboration and inclusion to young people throughout Santa Fe. A minimum of five Meow Wolf artists will work hands-on with students in avariety of artistic media in each class. Students will receive an abundance of one-on-one attention from Meow Wolf artists as they work in teams to conceptualize, design, and create imaginative collaborative pieces that will become integral aspects of Meow Wolf public art installations like The Due Return (http://meowwolf.com/projects/the-due-return) and go on to be viewed by thousands of visitors.
This school year, CHIMERA will work with 32 classes from at least 10 different schools. A total of at least 800 students will have direct artistic contributions and vibrant interactions with CHIMERA instructors. The primary goal is that, through CHIMERA, youth will begin to understand the power of working together and to learn the core skills necessary for positive collaborative work. It is our hope that these values can ultimately transcend art-making and permeate into other aspects of student's everyday lives.Your donation goes directly towards paying instructors for their time in the classroom, and towards the materials needed for these projects.
