Hello Kickstarters. Thanks for visiting our Kickstarter page for the Skaddle.
What we are looking to do "is to look to you" to help us fund 2 Injection Molds to finalize the design and function of the Skaddle. The parts that need to be made are the 2 Handles and the Ground Tip. We have a specific durometer, diameter and feel we are looking to produce. We hope you see the fun and fitness aspects as we do.
The Skaddle was an idea that our 2 sons and I came up with while multitasking around our home. After using a push broom handle to push ourselves on one of my old 70's skateboards, and having so much fun doing it, we decided to build a skateboard paddle for real. We started with very basic materials and continued to improve on our prototypes.
As a family we called a business meeting and discussed the possibilities to Design, Develop and Distribute such a product. Our boys were excited to learn what it takes to take an idea, fine tune it and get it to market. We were excited about the premise and the chance to help our 11 and 13 year old boys experience the world of being an entrepreneur. There were some personal sacrifices we would all have to make to make this happen and all of us were on board (no pun intended) to share the stoke of this new activity.
After making many prototypes and variations we have come up with what you see here.
How we plan to do this is to "Share the Stoke" with all of you here on Kickstarter. We hope you will support us on our project and want to get out and Skaddle too. Over the last year and a half, we have come to find that this is a sport that is fun for any age. We have had the honor of getting others on a skateboard for the first time ever, using one of our prototype Skaddles. So if you have never been on a skateboard, the Skaddle is a great way to balance and propel yourself without using your foot to move forward.
Our goal is to raise $15,000 to cover the cost of 2 injection molds which will help get us up and going to manufacture the Skaddle.
We have also started a longboard skateboard company branded Koa Longboards. They are made in the same facility as the Skaddle. We wanted to offer a co-branded longboard that best suits the characteristics of the Skaddle. Our Koa Longboard offered here on Kickstarter is a 40" longboard that is concave and has a kicktail. This design is a great all around riding board and is Eco Friendly w/ our choice of the Bamboo construction. The trucks(axles), wheels and bearings are made here in the USA.
