A steampunkische adventure set in the mid-1800s in Berlin, Germany, featuring Gustav Magnus’ fictitious son, Henry, for ages 12+
Berlin, 1848: A March Revolution
Henry Magnus,14, a young chemist discovers a force of nature while making experiments in his father’s lab and finds that it has an effect he doesn’t understand, and can’t control. His best friend, Claire, thinks it can change the world. Together, they find that not only would it change the world but the way they would know each other.
Though this book is fictional, it has historical and scientific roots in math, chemistry, and physics, and presents an alternate reality in the true sense of steampunk genre. Henry’s father Gustav, is portrayed closely to the historical figure along with other significant people and works of his period. It’s the hey-day of Germaine Hess, Lord Kelvin, August Beer, James Prescott Joule and Michael Faraday mixed with an epoch-making discovery of two young children.
When Henry & Claire try to contain their discovery it sets a reaction that spins out of control. A March Revolution begins with a new generation of machines, air ships, and weapons based on this discovery, and, which gives rise to imperial conquests, dominion of weather systems and even new religious sects.

Hi, I’m H.R.Mayor and this is my first novel. I’m writing a steampunkishe novel with an imaginative twist on steam. Set in Germany beginning in the mid-1800s, The Magnus Series in A March Revolution, presents an alternate reality due to the discovery of a new form of energy made by a brilliant scientist’s son and his childhood friend.
Gustav Magnus, a German scientist who characterized the effect of forces of rapidly moving objects, such as the forces related to a golf ball slice, and, who taught at the University of Berlin, has a fictitious son named Henry, who in his father’s lab, is making his own experiments. One evening, Henry’s best friend, Claire, comes to visit, and together, they discover an energy unlike any they’d ever seen - not a flame. Not an explosion. And certainly, not a dissipating steam.

“‘What is that? What did you just do?’ said Claire. ‘I don’t know.’ And upon his closer observation, Henry finds that the energy is somehow contained, revolving and apparently, persistent. His father’s friend, Prof. Clausius, had told him that things tend towards disorder, and that was not characteristic of what he was seeing. He knew this was important. Claire knew, too. ‘Don’t touch it,’ Claire warns Henry, as he reached out with a pair of steel tongs to probe the scalding, purple-embodied flask.”
Beginning with “A March Revolution”, The Magnus Series brings to life an alternate history of scientific discovery and its application. With Henry & Claire’s discovery, an alternate March Revolution takes place in Europe beginning in 1848. This book explores this discovery and its impacts to society, politics, science and religion. With great knowledge and discovery, comes great responsibility, and with a rise in the power potential, a counterbalance of control seeks to influence not only Henry, his friends and his family, but also science itself. Will rational thought and observation be supplanted with superstitious belief of this new energy’s apparent mystical properties?

Come and join Henry & Claire in their quest in an alternate 19th century time where zeppelins effortlessly traverse the earth and weather systems are dominated by man. Where trains are clean-powered and aero planes are silent. In the light of this discovery Henry yet finds that the potential for peace and tranquility among nations is embattled with the unyielding nature of man’s pursuits for power and conquest. Mystical and superstitious beliefs are twisted into systems of control for power and riches, and ultimately, the strife of man is put in direct opposition to: The Magnus Force.

As I mentioned, this is my first novel, though, for the past 20+ years, I’ve been writing technical design documents and have finally figured out how dull it is. So, I’ve architected a story in A March Revolution which is sure to enthrall most of you better than one would expect and bore fewer of you less than one deserves. Well, notwithstanding this video content, A March Revolution carries with it threaded themes of rebellion, love, betrayal, sacrifice, espionage, honor, greed and friendship. It’s the kind of story for all ages really, and bequeaths a sense of nobility and heroism pertinent to our time.
Won’t you join The Magnus Series adventure by supporting this Kickstarter campaign? Help a seasoned software architect go rogue by writing the next steampunk thriller series. It could be the next chapter in your life and certainly mine!
Thank you.
